GMMTV will premiere nine new Thai BL series in 2022.

GMMTV will premiere nine new Thai BL series in 2022.

With the last month of 2021 approaching, several production firms, including GMMTV, are beginning to promote their upcoming projects for the following year. Last December 1, the business held a press conference at which they unveiled the new series that would be the focus of the year 2022. Although this list just covers new BL series from GMMTV, once 2022 arrives, I'll make another for a more comprehensive list that includes shows from several businesses. Let's get started without further ado.

#1. Enchante

Enchante, like A Tale Of Thousand Stars last year, was unable to be released this year owing to a pandemic that struck the country in the middle of 2021. I was hoping for this BL to be released later this year, but due to schedule conflicts, it didn't happen. Enchante will be postponed until early next year, as a result. The narrative of Theo, who returns to Thailand to study after living in France, will be told in Enchante. Despite the fact that Theo is finding life in Thailand to be unfamiliar, he does have one buddy named Ak. Theo stumbles upon a book at the library that greets him in French. As a result, Theo becomes intrigued about who this person is, and four guys pretend to be Enchante. Because Bad Buddy is currently on Episode 5, and Not Me will premiere on December 12, it's unclear when this BL will actually air next year. Enchante might appear when Bad Buddy is finished.

#2. Star & Sky

When the trailer was first published, I mistook it for two distinct shows, but I was surprised to learn that they were both part of the same program. After his appearance in 2019's 2 Moons 2, Joong will return to the small screen in this Thai BL. Because of the volunteer teacher persona, Star and Sky bears some similarities to A Tale Of Thousand Stars' plot, however this time without the heart ailment. This BL is really taken from two novels: Star In My Mind and Sky In Your Heart, which is why it has two unique storylines in the series. New, the director of Love By Chance Seasons 1 and 2 as well as Until We Meet Again, will direct this new Thai BL. Star and Sky is an intriguing series since it introduces fresh characters and relationships, and the plot appears to be compelling.

#3. Cupid's Last Wish

Even though it had been speculated for a few days that Earth and Mix would be heading another BL series for next year, I was surprised when it was confirmed during the event. Cupid's Last Wish is a far cry from their project, which is really a good thing because various roles would allow them to improve their acting abilities even more. If Cupid's Last Wish has any flaws, it's the body swap premise, and we all know what happened with the last GMMTV series with the same concept, which ended in a disaster. But, because I haven't read the novel version yet and the series hasn't officially aired, I'm willing to give this BL the benefit of the doubt.

#4. The Eclipse

The core cast of this BL comes from both of the previous BLs, both of which featured a romantic comedy narrative, but this time they are faced with a mystery drama that we have never seen before. Khaotung and First are a newfound BL pair in The Eclipse, while Neo and Louis are from the second couple of Fish Upon the Sky. The mystery surrounding this new BL was highly highlighted in the teaser, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out throughout the series. Despite the fact that it is another school-based series, the narrative is unique to the BL audience.

#5. Never Let Me Go

Because of how deep the tale is based on the trailer, this BL series drew my interest when it was revealed. GMMTV's Never Let Me Go and Be On Cloud's KinnPorsche, both set for next year, appear to be in a battle of BL series that center on the narrative of Mafia. Pond and Phuwin have already been seen in Fish Upon the Sky 2021 with their fluffy and romantic comedy moments, but this time they are destined to be in a world where peace is difficult to attain. Chimon is also a member of this BL, and he appears to be the main characters' second male protagonist.

#6. Moonlight Chicken

Although the four pillars will not have their own BL series in 2022, Earth and Mix will have Moonlight Chicken as a second BL series. Due to its content, this next Thai BL is a little more serious than Cupid's Last Wish, and I believe that this short series will display the growth of both Earth and Mix as actors. Moonlight Chicken's premise also recalls me of I Told Sunset About You, though we won't know for sure until the series airs. Given that this BL will be directed by the same person who directed A Tale of Thousand Stars and Bad Buddy, I believe we can expect a high-quality drama from this series.

#7. Vice Versa

Because of the intriguing narrative and, of course, the primary and supporting actors, I am quite excited for this new upcoming Thai BL. Wai from Bad Buddy The Series is one of the primary characters in this BL, and I can't wait to see him in his own BL series. Ohm and Nanon will also be appearing in the program, albeit they may just appear in a few moments as needed. The thought of an other world is fascinating, and seeing it in a BL next year will be a gift to all of us. Of course, this series would not have any superheroes, but the fact that it could be done as a romance drama reminds me that BL is genuinely borderless.

#8. My School President

The premise of this BL reminds me of Love Sick, but with a more current setting and appearance. Despite the fact that it is a school-focused series, the primary cast caught my attention, and based on what I saw in the trailer, I can tell that they have strong chemistry with one another. Our series' premise may not be as unusual as others on this list, but it all comes down to how well the sequences are executed and, of course, how terrific the performers are. With that considered, I'm still excited for My School President because it's possible that it'll be the first GMMTV series with a lighthearted premise.

#9. You Are My Favorite

Because Krist is the main character, I assumed the tale would focus around heterosexual couples when the series was revealed on the event. But as the trailer progressed, I was startled to learn that it was truly a new BL series starring Krist and Mike. The time travel premise is especially intriguing since, if my memory serves me well, I have never seen anything like it in a BL before. Aside from that, the fact that Krist and Mike as a couple is the most shocking thing about this revelation since, if my memory serves me correctly, Krist previously stated that he would never do another BL if Singto was not his partner. Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to this one and hoping for a successful outcome.

GMMTV's BL series for next year are only a few of the upcoming BL shows; there are more BL shows coming from various production firms. I'm just praying that owing to the epidemic, these BL series don't get canceled and rescheduled. Which of these new GMMTV BL programs are you most excited for? Thank you for taking the time to read this. That's all for now, and I'll see you on the next one.
