BL Series: The Top 31 (2022)
BL Series: The Top 31 (2022)
This blog will be the 2022 update with the inclusion of new BL series from other countries, including a number of releases from last year and some that are also being released internationally. Movies and special episodes are not included in this list, only the main dramas, including those that are currently running, are included. How many of the BL series do you think should be included in this list? Let's go straight into the blog without further ado.
#31. LOVE BENEATH THE STARS
This was really a sequel to a Filipino film called "The Boy Foretold By The Stars," which I was able to view on a website since it was not available for free, and I must say that it was quite nice and intriguing. Love Beneath The Stars is, thankfully, free to watch, although I'm not sure if international viewers can legally watch it using a VPN. Love Beneath The Stars, on the other hand, will show us that love can be both exhausting and rewarding.
#30. SOTUS
It's no wonder that it's still one of the most popular series of all time, even if it's been nearly six years since it was released. Because of this series, the trend of BL series engineering love stories began, and it has had a significant impact on the BL series industry.
#29. LIFE: LOVE ON THE LINE
Because just a few people have seen this Japanese BL drama, I can state that it is an undervalued BL drama. However, the series was well worth watching. It actually teaches us that love may change with time and that only a few people can last a lifetime. Life: Love On The Line is a true gem that deserves to be discovered.
#28. TO MY STAR
It's nice to see this Korean BL on this list because it's one of the greatest I've seen. In comparison to other Korean BLs that we may find on the internet nowadays, this is far superior.
#27. PAPA & DADDY
It's becoming increasingly difficult to discern between BLs and LGBT films and shows, and it's becoming increasingly difficult to tell which is which. Rather from the adorable show we saw in a lot of frequent BL stories, Papa And Daddy is a series that is more mature. In any case, in 2022 and in the years to come, this drama is worth watching.
#26. HISTORY 2: CROSSING THE LINE
When this BL series originally aired, the presence of the sports genre was a welcome addition, and it was pleasant to witness. History series are recognized for having distinct and compelling dramas, and Crossing The Line did not disappoint.
#25. LOVELY WRITER
This was unquestionably one of the greatest Thai BLs published last year, and if you haven't seen it yet, you should. For more than half a decade, the subject of actors' privacy has been a hot topic, and it's refreshing to see a BL take on it. Aside from that, I like the chemistry between the main pair and would want to see them on another show.
#24. I PROMISED YOU THE MOON
In 2021, the sequel to I Told Sunset About You was one of the most anticipated BL series, with conflicting reactions from fans. In terms of production, the series deserves a lot of appreciation for how well it was done. We may claim that the narrative is close to reality, even if it isn't for everyone.
#23. HIS: I DIDN'T MEAN TO FALL IN LOVE
I haven't watched it yet, but some reviews suggest it's a charming, pleasant, and innocent series that's worth checking out. Despite the fact that this was released about three years ago, this is true for most current Japanese BLs. On Viki and Apple TV, you may watch this BL.
#22. KEI X YAKU
Kei X Yaku, a Japanese BL, has joined our list of BLs. This Japanese BL is still on air as of now, but I'm curious to see if it goes lower or higher once it stops. I haven't watched this yet since I can't locate a legal site where I can view it, but it's possible that it will be released once it's completed broadcasting.
#21. MY BEAUTIFUL MAN
Although some people disagree with me, I think this Japanese BL to be one of the finest BLs for 2021. It's true that this BL has a strange narrative, but that helps it stand out from the rest.
#20. MANNER OF DEATH
This BL deserves a much better rating, but we all have different tastes, therefore some people may not be impressed by Manner Of Death. When it comes to its original narrative and, of course, the character acting performances, Manner Of Death provided a high-quality show.
#19. WE BEST LOVE: FIGHTING MR. 2ND
Fighting Mr. 2nd is a nice sequel to the first part, which was my favorite. The characters' chemistry is fantastic, and the performers' acting abilities are equally outstanding.
#18. CHERRY MAGIC
If I were asked, I would give this Japanese BL a much higher rating, although other people may prefer a more serious series. This romantic comedy series had a premise that was unlike anything else on the industry, and it paid off handsomely. This April, a film adaptation of the story will be released.
#17. BOYS' LOCKDOWN
If ratings are the only criterion, Boys' Lockdown is one of the finest Filipino BLs, according to the website MyDramaList. Despite the fact that it was launched in 2020, I haven't seen it yet. It received a lot of attention from fans since most of the reviews thought it was pleasant, adorable, and unproblematic.
#16. HE'S COMING TO ME
Due to its unusual narrative and outstanding actor talents, this is one of my favorite GMMTV BL series. Although the love tale between a living person and a ghost seemed strange, it was a nice one.
#15. HELLO STRANGER
This is one of the few BLs I've seen from the Philippines, and it has a special place in my heart. Despite the fact that the plot was not innovative, its simplicity was sufficient to communicate the story. There was a sequel to Hello Stranger, but I didn't get to see it.
#14. WHAT DID YOU EAT YESTERDAY?
The Japanese BL, What Did You Eat Yesterday?, is one of the BLs that received a high rating. Despite the fact that it was launched in 2019, several places only received it a few months before the official international release. Rather than the normal adorable and romantic presentations we've seen over the previous year, this series focuses on the actual portrayal of LGBT people in Japan.
#13. UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN
Another 2019 BL has a high rating, and I believe it deserves to be included on this list. There are a lot of drama sequences in Until We Meet Again, but there are also some lovely scenes from the main and supporting couples.
#12. I TOLD SUNSET ABOUT YOU
In early 2021 and early 2020, this BL had a better rating, but it plummeted in the second half of the year. Because of the greater production quality and wonderful plot, this is truly my benchmark for the BL series. In any case, the times have changed, and many fans are yearning for more light-hearted stories to watch.
#11. LIGHT ON ME
Despite the fact that this BL has been rated lower in recent months, it is still one of the greatest Korean shows to watch right now, because to its lengthier episodes and compelling plot. It's not really unique, but the scenes will undoubtedly warm your heart.
#10. MY LOVE MIX-UP!
This series is one of the most recent titles on our list, and it is another Japanese BL. There's a romantic comedy series called My Love Mix-Up and it's one of my faves for 2021. International fans will be happy to watch this BL because it was published on Netflix last month.
#9. WE BEST LOVE: NO. 1 FOR YOU
The characters' chemistry was always something I admired about this series. It's also one of my favorite enemies to lovers of BL drama, and the narrative was pretty fantastic.
#8. GAMEBOYS: LEVEL UP EDITION
Netflix added extra sequences to the Gameboys series as a result of the show's huge success. Gameboys is undoubtedly one of the classics, even though I haven't seen the level up edition.
#7. HISTORY 3: TRAPPED
I'm not a big fan of action dramas, but the premise of Trapped managed to grab my interest. Trapped is one of the greatest examples of this cliché, and it's one of my favorite Enemies to Lovers series.
#6. LIKE IN THE MOVIES
Like In The Movies, which was released in 2020, is still one of the best BL series to date. This BL made a lot of observations about me, particularly how I saw myself as an LGBT person. Aside from that, there were some adorable sequences of the main pair in this BL that had me laugh out loud when I first saw it.
#5. WORD OF HONOR
Because of the country's restrictions, this series is more of a bromance than a BL. After watching it, I've heard that this series is one of the finest Chinese dramas and that it has garnered a lot of positive feedback.
#4. NOT ME
Despite the fact that this Thai BL is still running, it has already received a high rating on the MyDramaList website. Not Me, according to some admirers, is growing better and better with each episode.
#3. Bad Buddy
This is one of my all-time favorite BL series, and it deservingly deserves to be included on this list after receiving a lot of accolades following its conclusion. It's fascinating to witness Ohm and Nanon's chemistry, and it's one of the main reasons why Bad Buddy is a hit.
#2. A TALE OF THOUSAND STARS
A Tale Of Thousand Stars, in addition to Bad Buddy, has entered the list of BLs with a higher rating. This BL is one-of-a-kind in terms of plot, and it's difficult to imagine a sequel to this masterpiece. This BL was fantastic in every way.
#1. THE UNTAMED
This is more of a bromance than a BL, and it was also due of the same reason as Word Of Honor. This was a series that I enjoyed. The Untamed is a true masterwork.
Many more BL series will be added to this list throughout time, and we are looking for another batch of masterpieces. For the time being, we may watch some of the BLs that are currently on air. Which of these BLs do you like to watch? Greetings and thanks for taking the time to read this! That's all for now, and we'll see you next time.
