In August 2023, there will be 12 new BL series!
Yes, you read that correctly. There are 12 new forthcoming BL dramas that we should look forward to in August, and it's time to clear our calendars to make room for these series. In this article, we will look at 12 new forthcoming BL dramas and what we can expect from their plots. Let's go straight into the blog, shall we?
#1. STAY STILL
August is adding another BL with the word "stay" in the title, and I suppose it will be worthwhile. Stay Still is a Hong Kong-based BL featuring romantic and emotional situations, according to the teaser. Stay Still tells the story of Hayden, who goes to a new place and meets Damian. Their relationship begins with an accidental kiss that complicates matters for both of them. Another pair will be featured in this series on how they rekindled their love after being apart since high school. Stay Still will premiere on the Jupiter Entertainment YouTube channel on August 1.
#2. SING MY CRUSH
This next Korean BL reminds me of Wish You, which also has the similar music genre, but we'll have to wait and see what's new in the upcoming series. Sing My Crush tells the story of Ba Ram and Han Tae following an accident during their high school years. Will Ba Ram be able to repress his hidden affections for Han Tae many years later, or will it remain a secret for good? Sing My Crush will premiere on iQiYi on August 2.
#3. HEARTSTOPPER 2
Netflix will not renew this series if it is not fantastic, but we now have an official release date. Heartstopper Season 2 will reintroduce us to our favorite characters — Nick, Charlie, and the other characters — as they embark on the next chapter of their lives, loves, and friendships. Heartstopper Season 2 will be available on Netflix in select countries on August 3.
#4. MY PERSONAL WEATHERMAN
My Personal Weatherman is here to satisfy your thirst for another Japanese BL series. This BL tells the story of Segasaki, a popular gorgeous guy and weather forecaster, and Yoh, an ero-manga artist who live together. At home, the weather forecaster is a dictator, so Yoh must obey all he says. What is the potential conclusion of this contract? My Personal Weatherman will premiere on August 11.
#5. LOVE CLASS 2
Heartstopper isn't the only series on our list that will return for a second season; Love Class will also return next month. Lee Hyun, who has never tasted heartbreak, is the protagonist of Love Class 2. He falls in love with a young tutor one day and follows him about, bombarding him with questions. The sequel will now feature three distinct couples, so I'm hoping that the screen time can accommodate all of their stories. Love Class 2 will premiere on Viki on August 11.
#6. RED, WHITE & ROYAL BLUE
Red, White, and Royal Blue is an upcoming romantic comedy film based on the same-named best-selling novel. The trailer looks fantastic, and I can't wait to see it when it comes out. Red, White, and Royal Blue tells the story of a hidden affair between the President's son and a British royal. I'm hoping that this adaptation does the novel credit. Red, White, and Royal Blue will be available on Amazon Prime Video on August 11th.
#7. LOVE IN TRANSLATION
If you haven't noticed, Love In Translation is the first forthcoming Thai BL on our list, and the official teaser is already giving me a charming vibe. Love In Translation tells the story of two young men pulled together by their frantic chases of their individual goals. Love In Translation will premiere on August 19.
#8. MY UNIVERSE
My Universe, another planned Thai BL series for August, features 12 couples with distinct titles, similar to Y Destiny. Marry Go Round, Right Time Right You, Lucky Love, You Are My Soulmate, Cassanova Begins, The Camp Fire, Friends Forever, Fake Love, Pisces Of Me, 1626, I Wish You Love, and Refund Love are the stories for each pair. My Universe will premiere on August 20th, with a total of 24 episodes.
#9. KISEKI: DEAR TO ME
It's great to have another Taiwanese BL drama airing in August, and I'm really looking forward to this one. Kiseki: Dear To Me tells the story of Zong Yi, a young man who wants to be a doctor. He is obliged to take Ze Rui to his own home and care for him one day. They become closer and eventually fall in love. However, owing to a gangster brawl, Zong Yi will be arrested. The book version's promotional video features a different cast, so I'm hoping the new cast will be just as good. Kiseki: Dear To Me will premiere on August 22 and will consist of 13 episodes.
#10. MAN SUANG
After the success of KinnPorsche last year, Mile and Apo are back, but this time on the big screen. Man Suang is a historical drama that tells the story of Khem and Wan, who are on a journey to uncover the truth concealed within Man Suang. Their relationship grows as they uncover the terrible secret beneath Siam's most expensive and secretive entertainment club. It is uncertain if it will be available globally. Man Suang will be released on August 24th.
#11. WHY R U? (KOREAN)
The original Why R U? was released three years ago, so I believe it's time to revisit these characters' events. There is no official summary yet, and the Korean Remake will only contain 8 episodes instead of 13 to simplify the entire series. I only hope that each episode isn't less than 20 minutes long. Why R U Korean Remake will premiere in August.
#12. I FEEL YOU LINGER IN THE AIR
One of my favorite forthcoming BL dramas, I can't wait to watch it in its entirety. Despite some people's reservations about this BL due to the director's prior works, I guess we'll have to wait for the real show. I Feel You Linger In The Air tells the narrative of Jom, who is in charge of renovating a historic mansion near the Ping River. But then he finds himself in another period and hears a voice calling his name. What will he do if he discovers that he has traveled back to the 1920s? I Feel You Linger In The Air is scheduled to premiere in August.
What BL Series do you most look forward to in August?
