 2023's Top 10 Most Popular BL Couples

    With 2023 coming to a close in a month, let's take a look back at some of the most popular BL couples that appeared in our favorite BL series this year. The number of Instagram followers of these BL couples will be used to determine the ranking. Let's go straight into the blog, shall we?

#10. Gawin & Krist

    With a total of 4,369,405 followers, this BL couple is one of the most popular this year. Be My Favorite, despite the popularity of one of them, isn't one of the most popular series of 2023, but it's still one of the greatest that I can suggest. This comes as no surprise given Krist's popularity in Thailand, particularly among the BL community, since his appearance on SOTUS in 2016. Gawin, on the other hand, has previously been coupled with a number of actors, but we have yet to see him with an official ship in recent years. Gawin and Krist have a fantastic on-screen chemistry, which is obvious in their BL series this year. Unfortunately, Be My Favorite may be their final BL series together, with Gawin getting a new partner in 2024.

#9. Joong & Dunk

    With 4,371,241 followers, the aforementioned BL couple is one of the most popular artists, particularly in the international BL community. Following their first BL project together last year, Joong and Dunk made a reappearance this year as the lead stars in Hidden Agenda. Even though the series received mixed reviews from reviewers and fans, Joong and Dunk remain a popular BL ship among viewers. GMMTV is yet to clarify whether the two will have another BL series next year or whether the ship will take an indefinite sabbatical from having starring roles.

#8. Gemini & Fourth

    Gemini and Fourth have a total of 4,491,782 followers and are two of the youngest stars on our list, having risen in popularity after their appearances on My School President and Moonlight Chicken earlier this year. Gemini and Fourth are still called beginner actors because they are relatively new to the industry, yet their popularity is out of this world. Not only do they have chemistry, but both actors have their unique charm that draws fans to their projects. They will be granted a new series next year, and I can't wait to see them develop not only in popularity but also in skill.

#7. Singto & Fluke

    With a total follower of 5,325,323, this BL ship is a complete surprise to all of us. Singto and Fluke have had their own partners in previous BL series for the past several years, but this time we will have a unique BL coupling. However, their ongoing series Shadow has yet to announce whether their characters will have a love relationship in the end. However, Fluke's character has one-sided affections for Singto, so we'll see how that plays out in the near future. All I can say is that I can't wait till December 7.

#6. First & Khaotung

    With a total of 5,352,045 followers, First and Khaotung are easily capturing the sixth slot. We first met First and Khaotung as a couple in The Eclipse last year, and we were blown away by their connection and their talents. This year, they received Moonlight Chicken and their most recent series, Only Friends, which have gained a lot of fame throughout the world, and these two actors truly deserve it. First and Khaotung are particular favorites of mine, so I'm eager to see them again next year.

#5. Pond & Phuwin

    Pond and Phuwin have a total of 5,566,987 followers, despite the fact that they have only been on-screen BL couples for two years. Never Let Me Go was very remarkable in that it transformed a school series into a much darker drama. Pond and Phuwin are better in their latest drama, although some critics didn't enjoy the premise or their acting abilities. Nonetheless, they have already established themselves as two of the most popular Thai actors in the BL industry, and I'm confident that any series they have in the future will be as successful.

#4. Boun & Prem

    Boun and Prem, who have a total of 6,136,903 followers, are not backing down despite the fact that their ship has been in started since 2019. Boun and Prem are just one of the couples on our list that aren't exactly new to the BL industry, so it's easy to see why they're so popular. Not only that, but they are recognized for having tremendous on-screen chemistry, which is why their fans continue to love them even after 4 years after they debuted as a couple. Boun and Prem will return in 2024 with a fresh narrative about vampires, according to a recent announcement.

#3. Zee & NuNew

    With a total of 6,430,160 followers, this BL couple is undoubtedly one of the most endearing in this group. Their fame exploded when they featured in Cutie Pie last year, but they also filmed a special sequel to it early this year called Cutie Pie 2 You. Those two are among the most popular titles of their respective years, thus they are likely to be on this list as well. In 2024, we may expect two new BL series for the two titles Zomvivor and The Next Prince, which will undoubtedly propel their fame to new heights.

#2. Earth & Mix

    With a total of 6,670,745 followers, we can see how successful these two actors have become as a result of their previous BL projects and other series. These two stars had been paired way back in 2020, even though their series was delayed until 2021, but it did not stop their popularity from growing year after year. Every year, Earth and Mix have a new project, and in 2024, they will feature in a Thai version of a Japanese classic called Ossan's Love. Both of them will undoubtedly earn a large number of new fans in the near future, therefore I'm hopeful that their next series will live up to the original.

#1. Perth & Chimon

    They are the most popular BL couple this year, with a total of 6,796,968 followers. After their appearance on Never Let Me Go earlier this year, fans couldn't be more excited about the on-screen BL couple's BL project, Dangerous Romance. However, several of them were dissatisfied with how the series was handled. Furthermore, Perth and Chimon were already known Thai actors before to their pairing in GMMTV, so it's no surprise to see them here in the first place. As of now, there is no word on whether either of them will have another series next year, or if Dangerous Romance will be their final project together based on audience reception.

 

    Because Cooking Crush and Cherry Magic have yet to air, I did not add TayNew and OffGun in this list. If you're wondering where they would rank on our list, TayNew will come in second with 10,074,342 followers, while OffGun will be our most popular couple with 10,791,948 followers due to their international appeal.
