10 Most Highly Rated Korean BL Series of All Time
Aside from Thai and Japanese BL series, which are common in viewers, Korean BL dramas have grown in popularity since 2020. Although most Korean BLs are short in terms of episodes and duration, some fans continue to watch them due of the unique storytelling approach. In this blog, we will rank the top-rated Korean BL dramas of all time. Without further ado, let us start our blog.
#10. Where Your Eyes Linger
Where Your Eyes Linger, which premiered in 2020, is widely regarded as the series that laid the path for subsequent Korean BL series. Its popularity exploded after it aired, ushering in a new era for BLs. Where Your Eyes Linger tells the story of Han Tae Joo, a young man from a wealthy family who also serves as the TB Group's heir. When his boyhood friend and bodyguard, Kang Gook, begins to attract the attention of a new female, Han Tae Joo experiences new sensations he has never felt before. #9. Our Dating Sim
Our Dating Sim, a Korean BL series that aired last year, was also one of my favorites. The sweetness and light story were probably two of the primary reasons why many fans adored it, and I'm guessing the charms of the main leads also played a role in this. Our Dating Sim tells the story of Lee Wan, a high school student who confessed his feelings with his buddy Shin Ki Tae. When the latter failed to react to his confession, Lee Wan fled and went into hiding for several years. During a job interview, the two reunite, but will it be the ideal moment for their love story? But how can they keep their friendship if Ba Ram has had secret affections for his friend for years? Sing My Crush may be viewed on iQiYi.
#7. The Eighth Sense
This series is not only popular among BL fans, but it is also regarded as one of the greatest, if not the greatest, Korean BL series ever produced. Unlike earlier BL shows, which gave a pleasant and light story, this is the polar opposite, although the romance between the characters remains intact. The Eighth Sense tells the story of Ji Hyun, a new student who is struggling to acclimate to life in Seoul. In his new institution, he meets Jae Won, who shares his enthusiasm for surfing. As they become closer together, their conflicting sentiments surface. The Eighth Sense may be viewed on Viki.
#6. Blueming
With speculations of a remake, the first adaptation was regarded as a masterpiece by its audience. The chemistry and cinematography were excellent, so doing a remake would be a difficult decision. Blueming tells the story of Cha Si Won, a young guy who dreams of having excellent looks in order to get popularity. When he first enters university, he is positive that he would be one of the most popular students on campus, until he meets Da On, the new guy who has everything that makes Cha Si Won doubt himself. When they cross paths, their hearts begin to connect. Blueming may be viewed on iQiYi.
#5. A Breeze of Love
A series that premiered last year and is shockingly nice. The series was brief, with each episode lasting around 18 minutes, but it was nonetheless engaging and amusing. Coincidentally, the team manager invites Do Hyun's first love, Dong Wook, to join the team, although the two are not on good terms. Will they ever reconcile their relationship? A Breeze of Love may be viewed on iQiYi.
#4. To My Star
To My Star's two seasons garnered great ratings from fans, and it is certainly one of the most recommended Korean BL dramas. The first season focuses on how they meet and fall love each other, but the second season is significantly more convoluted. To My Star tells the story of Kang Seo Joon, one of South Korea's biggest stars whose career has declined. But his life changes when he meets Han Ji Woo, a skilled cook. Love triangles are not frequently seen in BLs, but Light On Me shown that they can be done well. It's been about three years since its release, and I'm still waiting for a sequel or even a side story. Light On Me tells the story of Tae Kyung, an 18-year-old high school student who has always been a loner. When he decides to make friends, his homeroom professors suggest him join the student council. There, he meets Vice President Shin Woo and President Da On, who will not only become friends with him but also confuse his emotions. Light On Me may be viewed on Viki, WeTV, and KOK TV.
#2. Semantic Error
This is undoubtedly the most popular Korean BL series of all time, thanks to the main characters' chemistry and attractiveness. The series was brief, yet it exceeded fans' expectations, resulting in its popularity. #1. Love for Love's Sake
We were only starting the year 2024 but Love for Love's Sake had already set our hearts on fire with the characters' chemistry and the incredible story. I have only seen two episodes, but I am immediately impressed by the quality of this drama is. The artists' acting talents are all excellent, but Tae Myung Ha's facial expressions stand out. I've seen a lot of Korean BL dramas, but I believe this one ranks at the top. Love for Love's Sake tells the story of Tae Myung Ha, a 29-year-old man who is transferred to a fictional game as a 19-year-old high school student.
