15 Ongoing BL Series To Watch In August 2024!

It's hard to believe that there are so many ongoing BL dramas today when there weren't many a few years ago. This blog will provide a list of ongoing BL series for the month of August, as well as a new Taiwanese BL drama set to premiere later this month. Without further ado, let us start our blog.

#01. THIS LOVE DOESN'T HAVE LONG BEANS

With one episode remaining, we will say our farewell to the characters in this wonderful drama series. This series may not be as popular as some of the other ongoing BL dramas, but it deserves to be considered as one of the best shows we have right now. This Love Doesn't Have Long Beans tells the story of Plawan, a model who is given a large sum of money to participate in a competition at a well-known chef's table restaurant run by head chef Chef Oab. His sole goal is to make the head chef fall for him and become his successor. However, the aforementioned head chef is a well-known strict perfectionist who instills fear in even his peers. Will he ever achieve his goal as a newcomer to the kitchen? This Love Doesn't Have Long Beans can be viewed on iQiYi.

#02. MONSTER NEXT DOOR

Don't let the low ratings fool you; Monster Next Door is arguably the cutest BL drama available in August. It has been one of my most anticipated BL series since it was announced a few months ago, and I'm delighted it's finally here! Monster Next Door tells the story of Diew, an adorable introvert who prefers to live in his own private world. But his placid world is upended when God, an extrovert senior, moves in next door. Will they ever get along, given their diverse personalities? Monster Next Door can be seen on WeTV and YouTube.

#03. I SAW YOU IN MY DREAM

Another ongoing BL drama that is often overlooked is I Saw You In My Dream, which should be on everyone's watch list. Aside from its odd story, the drama series features new faces that may capture your attention from the start. I Saw You In My Dream tells the story of Ai and Yu, who have been rivals since childhood. But Yu begins to appear in Ai's dreams, with each scene being more amorous than the previous. What makes it much more problematic is that his fantasies are becoming a reality! How will Ai deal with these changes? I Saw You In My Dream can be seen on WeTV and YouTube.

#04. 4MINUTES

There is no doubting that the current highest-rated ongoing BL series is the talk of the town for a variety of reasons, one of which is the chemistry between the characters. The complicated storyline may confound many viewers, yet these details make the series much more interesting to watch. 4Minutes tells the story of Great, a university student who unexpectedly obtains the ability to see four minutes into the future. Because of his newfound abilities, he unwittingly influences the outcome of numerous events. When he visits the hospital, he meets Tyme, the resident surgeon. The two become friends, and eventually develop feelings for each other. Will they ever discover the causes of Great's concealed power? VIU allows viewers to watch 4Minutes.

#05. COSMETIC PLAYLOVER

Cosmetic Playlover is one of the many good BL series that the Japanese BL industry has recently released. It may not be as good as Cherry Magic, but it is definitely worth a look because it has a distinct premise. Cosmetic Playlover tells the story of Sahashi and Natsume, who both work as cosmetic consultants for their company. However, because Sahashi is arrogant and disrespectful to his superior, Natsume, the latter is unable to avoid a headache from his coworker. Aside from that, Sahashi uncovers Natsume's secret and threatens him with it. Cosmetic Playlover can be viewed on GaGaOOLala.

#06. ADDICTED HEROIN

It's definitely one of the most contentious BL dramas of 2024, but many fans are looking forward to the Thai adaptation of Addicted and whether it lives up to the hype. The first two Chinese versions were hugely popular, but neither will get the continue they deserve. Addicted Heroin tells the story of Hero, the general's son, who fled home after learning that his father will remarry and take in his stepson to live with them. At school, he meets Pop, a low-income student. Hero pretends to be impoverished in order to get closer to Pop. However, Hero finds that Pop is his stepmother's son, and issues begin to surface. Will they ever learn to coexist happily as step siblings? Addicted Heroin can be shown on WeTV.

#07. FIRST NOTE OF LOVE

Our first Taiwanese BL drama of the month is now on screen, with two episodes out of twelve. Unlike the previous Taiwanese BL dramas we saw earlier this year, the emphasis will be on the music genre, which is rather interesting. First Note of Love tells the story of Neil, the lead singer of the band "Magnet". However, his life took a turn for the worst when the band's keyboardist perished in a vehicle accident. As a result, Neil abruptly declared his retirement, leaving their admirers, especially a young boy named Sea, with broken dreams. Six years later, Sea receives an invitation to work with his idol Neil, but the latter still refuses due to fear and stage fright. Will the music help Neil overcome his problems and establish a second opportunity with Sea? You may watch First Note of Love on GagaOOLala.

#08. THE ON1Y ONE

The final upcoming BL drama for the month of August is another Taiwanese BL series called "The On1y One". If you enjoy stepbrothers' hate-to-love stories, The On1y One will pique your interest because of these details. This series is also based on a novel, therefore many fans are excited for its release. The On1y One may be viewed on GagaOOLala, iQiYi, Netflix, WeTV, and Viki.

"Sky Valley" is a BL and GL series set in the scenic Sky Valley Park in Zamboanga City, blending romance with a stunning backdrop. The series intertwines two stories: one follows Junjun, a horseman who becomes enamored with Fourth, a mysterious guest, while the other centers on Paris, a vlogger, who falls for Taylor, the resort owner's daughter. The show's strength lies in its breathtaking visuals and the emotional depth of its characters. However, the pacing is sometimes uneven, and the dual storyline can feel slightly disconnected.
