Must-Watch BL Series That Are Heating Up Right Now!

There are numerous BL series currently airing, but two have really stood out to me, along with two upcoming series that I may include once they premiere this month. In this blog, I’d like to share my insights and genuine opinions about these ongoing and forthcoming shows based on the episodes I've watched. Without further delay, let's dive into the blog.

#01. THE EX-MORNING

A teaser for the highly awaited GMMTV BL series dropped over a year ago, creating a wave of excitement among fans. Much of the enthusiasm was fueled by the return of Krist and Singto, one of the most adored BL couples, who are reentering the Boys' Love realm after focusing on solo projects for several years. Their chemistry on-screen has always been a favorite among fans, and just seeing them together again in the teaser was enough to spark enthusiasm within the fandom. Just last week, GMMTV finally revealed the official trailer for The Ex-Morning, and it truly surpassed expectations. Personally, I couldn't be more excited—not only because of Krist and Singto's comeback but also due to the potential of the story itself. While it may not feature the biggest production budget or the most intricate plot compared to this year's BL series, it stands out with a heartfelt and authentic story that is distinctive in its own way. The narrative appears to be warm, sincere, and deeply emotional—exactly the type of story that resonates with viewers. Although Krist and Singto may not be at the height of their fame anymore, for the loyal fans who have backed them throughout the years, this project feels like a heartfelt gift. It's a nostalgic and gratifying return that honors the enduring commitment of their fanbase, making The Ex-Morning one of the most significant releases of the year for many. The Ex-Morning is set to premiere on May 22 on YouTube.

#02. KNOCK OUT

There’s something about this that truly has me eager for its premiere. I’m not sure what’s happening with WeTV recently, but their original BL dramas have been consistently showcasing high-quality content, which is frankly impressive. Following the success of Top Form, it looks like they're maintaining that momentum with Knock Out, and the excitement is definitely increasing. Although the series hasn’t premiered yet, the trailer alone has captured my interest. The plot appears fresh and intriguing, and the characters seem to possess depth and emotional complexity. Furthermore, the chemistry between the lead actors is undeniable—even in the brief preview, you can feel the tension and connection, which is always a promising sign in a BL series. I’m trying to manage my expectations because it’s easy to get caught up in the excitement, but to be honest, I can't help but feel optimistic. If the actual series lives up to what the teaser has suggested, Knock Out could very well become another remarkable offering from WeTV. Here’s hoping it measures up to its promise! Knock Out is scheduled to debut on May 16 on WeTV.

#03. THE NEXT MORNING

When it comes to current BL series, The Next Prince is definitely among the most discussed and eagerly awaited shows that are currently airing. There has been a lot of excitement surrounding it, and after finally catching the first two episodes this week, I completely get why. I'm already eagerly anticipating the release of the next episode. After three years in development, this series feels like more than just another launch—it's a landmark. There's an impression that we are part of a pivotal moment in BL history, and honestly, the long wait seems to have been worthwhile. From the very start, it's obvious that the production quality is exceptional. The cinematography, costume design, music, and pacing all indicate the extensive thought and effort put into bringing this story to reality. Naturally, just like with any series, not everyone is entirely on board, which is completely understandable. Some viewers have shared mixed opinions for their personal reasons. However, I found the premiere to be captivating and immersive, leaving me genuinely curious about what comes next. I wouldn’t claim it’s a masterpiece just yet, as we are still in the early stages, but I have optimistic expectations that the plot will evolve into something remarkable. I'm also hopeful that the cast will continue to deliver their best performances, especially in emotionally charged scenes. As anticipated, Zee and NuNew did not let us down. Their chemistry is palpable—as if they were destined for these roles. At this point, we are still observing them navigate their characters' initial relationship: one as a royal and the other as his devoted bodyguard. Yet, even in just a few scenes, you can already feel the emotions starting to develop between them. That brief glimpse into their love story was more than enough to draw me in completely, and I look forward to seeing how their relationship progresses in the forthcoming episodes. The Next Prince is available every Saturday on YouTube and iQiYi.

#04. TOP FORM

As I previously mentioned, WeTV's collection of original BL dramas this year is certainly making an impact, and one show that I can't stop thinking about is Top Form. I genuinely can’t convey how much I’ve come to appreciate this series. It's one of those productions that gradually captivates you and then completely occupies your mind. To be entirely truthful, when I viewed the first episode, I had mixed feelings. The premise initially struck me as somewhat peculiar, and the character dynamics were a bit perplexing. There was something about it that didn't resonate with me immediately. Part of that uncertainty may have stemmed from my lack of familiarity with the lead actors; I wasn't sure what to anticipate from their performances, and at first, I thought they were deficient in emotional depth or chemistry. However, as I kept watching, I found out that I had completely misjudged my own assumptions. The confusion I experienced at the beginning wasn’t due to inept storytelling or weak acting—it was deliberate. The characters were intentionally crafted to feel ambiguous initially, and as the narrative unfolded, their complexities began to beautifully emerge. By the second or third episode, I started to grasp their motivations and the subtle intricacies of their personalities, and suddenly, everything clicked into place. The chemistry between the leads has now emerged as one of the series’ greatest strengths. It’s understated yet impactful, and there’s a slow-burn magic in their exchanges that keeps me entirely engaged. I find myself grinning like a fool whenever they have romantic exchanges on screen. Their height difference also adds an unexpected charm; it introduces a unique dynamic that makes their scenes feel even more heartwarming and authentic. Until now, I’ve only watched the first half of the available episodes, yet I’m already so invested in both the plot and the characters’ journeys. I genuinely admire how distinct each character is, and it’s remarkable how the actors manage to convey those differences so convincingly. It's evident they've dedicated significant effort to embody their roles, and it is apparent in every scene. I sincerely hope that the series maintains this strong momentum and provides their characters and relationship—the recognition they deserve. If it manages to finish strongly, Top Form could easily become one of the most unforgettable BL series of the year for me. Top Form is aired every Thursday on WeTV.

Having a fantastic lineup of recently finished BL dramas, I’m planning to make an effort to watch those I haven’t seen yet to share more insights about these series. What ongoing and upcoming BL shows this month would you suggest to everyone? I appreciate you taking the time to read this! That’s all for now, and I’ll catch you in the next one.
