Most Exciting BL Series I'm Watching Right Now in August 2025!

August brings a whirlwind of BL dramas that keep me up at night, with several still set to be released this month. In this blog, I’ll be discussing my current list of BL series to watch for August and sharing my opinions on these shows. If you have a watch list of your own, please share it in the comments below. So, let's dive right in!

#1. SECRET LOVER

This Taiwanese BL series initially grabbed my attention with its stunning visuals right from the first episode. The opening scene took me by surprise, indicating that it would offer a mix of spicy moments and drama. Having now watched 5 episodes, I can say that I genuinely enjoy what it presents to us. Although the storyline can feel a bit chaotic due to the characters’ differing personalities, it remains an engaging and entertaining show. I find myself laughing at the moments when one character dashes off while the other gives chase. These instances have occurred more than once, but at least the main couple manages to discuss their issues. My favorite aspect of this series is definitely the chemistry between the couple. Their intimate scenes are handled beautifully, feeling natural rather than awkward. The upcoming episodes should delve deeper into the story, especially with one of the parents getting involved. You can catch Secret Lover on YouTube, iQiYi, and GaGaOOLala.

#2. I'M THE MOST BEAUTIFUL COUNT

I can’t even put into words how much I’m enjoying this BL series—the first two episodes were absolutely hilarious and so well done! Nut proves once again how amazing and versatile he is as an actor. It’s impressive to see how he’s grown from playing Solo in Oxygen back in 2020 to now portraying a full-on diva, and he’s pulling it off flawlessly. As for the story, I’m The Most Beautiful Count offers an intriguing and thrilling plot, especially with the mystery surrounding what really happened to Woradet and the Prince. On top of that, the series is visually stunning, and every actor is delivering strong performances. While it’s still too early to fully evaluate the whole show, the beginning has been very promising for me. You can catch I’m The Most Beautiful Count on iQiYi and YouTube.

#3. ABO DESIRE

Aside from the recently finished Revenged Love, I’m also currently watching the Chinese BL drama Desire. I’ve already seen the first seven episodes, and I’d say I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with it. The first five episodes were really engaging and even made me curious enough to look up more about the omegaverse. Episode 6, however, felt a bit dull to me since it was heavy on dialogue and lacked the kind of impactful scenes that could have drawn me in more. Fortunately, the latest episode brought back my excitement with the progress in Gao Tu and Shen Wen Lang’s relationship and dynamic. Overall, I’d say it’s a solid series, but I do hope the upcoming episodes deliver more action, tension, and excitement between the characters. I understand that Hua Yong’s personality might be too overwhelming for some viewers, but that’s part of the story, and it’s possible he’ll face consequences later on—we’ll just have to wait and see. Desire is available to watch on Viki and GaGaOOLala.

#4. KHEMJIRA

Watching this horror BL series was truly stressful for me—not because it lacked quality, but because of its intense horror elements. The very first scene almost made me stop watching since I couldn’t handle the sudden ghost appearances on screen. As someone who normally avoids horror shows, getting through the first episode already feels like a huge accomplishment. That said, I was really impressed by how well-made it is; the production quality was top-notch, and even with just one episode, I’m already curious about how the story will unfold—if only I can endure the scares. While the premiere didn’t showcase any obvious romantic moments between Khem and Peem yet, their tension was already visible in a few scenes, which makes me look forward to their development. I just hope the next episodes will be easier for me to handle, since I’m already loving the chemistry between the leads. Considering it’s their first time in main roles, their acting was also pretty strong. Khemjira is available to watch on iQiYi.

#5. REARRANGE

When I first saw the official trailer a few weeks ago, I immediately felt drawn to watch this series. After seeing the premiere, I don’t regret starting it early to find out if it’s worth following. Time travel is a tricky concept that can easily go wrong without the right execution, and while I can’t say it’s perfect just yet, the opening storyline shows a lot of promise. At first, I didn’t feel much connection with the main characters, but as the episode went on—especially during its lowest point—I began to feel the emotional weight. Rearrange begins with a tragedy, so I’m really hoping it leads to a happy ending. As for the chemistry, it’s too soon to fully judge since we’ve only seen them in a friendship dynamic so far, but now that Win has returned to the past, I’m excited to see how things unfold. This series is definitely a strong addition to my watchlist this month, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the story develops. Rearrange can be streamed on YouTube.

#6. MY MAGIC PROPHECY

I’ve watched the first two out of the three currently available episodes, and I’m already completely drawn in. Honestly, the opening scenes didn’t grab my attention at first, and I thought this might just be another overhyped series. But as the story unfolded, it quickly proved itself with a mysterious and engaging plot. One of the standout elements for me is the chemistry—Jimmy and Sea may have starred in BL shows before, but there’s still something magical about the way they bring their characters to life here. While it has a hint of the enemies-to-lovers trope, I see it more as a love-at-first-sight story with an intriguing twist. Looking deeper into the plot, I can’t shake the feeling that there’s a mole within Thap’s circle, and it would be fascinating if that turned out to be Kan. With First’s impressive acting skills, it makes sense why he was chosen for this supporting role. The upcoming episodes will definitely be crucial for the story’s development, and I’m hoping they’ll be just as captivating as the start. My Magic Prophecy is available on YouTube and VIU.

There are so many ongoing BL dramas right now that I’d love to watch, but unfortunately, I don’t have enough time to catch them all. The highly anticipated comeback BL of Mile and Apo, Shine, has already started airing, and I’m planning to add it to my watchlist soon. On top of that, some upcoming titles look exciting too, like Revamp premiering on August 23 and Mu Te Luv on August 25. How about you—what BL dramas are on your watchlist this August? Thanks for reading, and see you in my next update!
