7 BL Stories About to Unfold Before Our Eyes

    Although we are only in the second week of March, it’s already amazing how many new announcements different companies have revealed. In this blog, we’ll explore several newly announced BL series that surfaced over the past few days and weeks. If there are any titles I may have overlooked, feel free to mention them in the comments below. Now, without further delay, let’s dive right in.

#01. DON'T BE TOO EMOTIONAL

 

    Would you believe it if I said the official pilot of this series delivered more chemistry than some BL dramas currently airing? These days, it takes a lot for a new series announcement to truly excite me unless the storyline and characters are simply too intriguing to overlook. Yet this is the kind of show that instantly grabs your attention the moment you watch it. The electric tension between the characters, the mystery woven into the plot, and the promise of romance all come together to create something genuinely compelling—especially if the story unfolds the way it should. It’s been a while since a new series has sparked this level of anticipation for me, which is why I was thrilled to hear rumors that it might premiere sooner than expected.

    Don’t Be Too Emotional tells the story of Jane Patrick, a mysterious university legend rumored to grant any wish—but only in exchange for a heavy and non-negotiable price. His quiet, solitary life begins to shift when Jane Lek, a bold and charismatic football player, approaches him for the simplest reason: to retrieve his ball. What starts as an ordinary encounter gradually deepens into an unexpected connection. Despite the warnings of those around them, Jane Lek begins to see a softer, more human side of Jane Patrick and becomes determined to uncover the truth about the enigmatic figure everyone fears but no one truly understands.

#02. LOVE UPON A TIME

 

    It’s honestly wild to realize that the original official pilot for this series came out back in 2023, and now we’re finally getting the full production. I used to be a big fan of Net and James as a pairing, so seeing Net with a different partner this time will probably take some getting used to. After watching the official trailer, the dynamic between Net and JJ feels quite different from what I first imagined. Still, considering the impressive production quality of the show, I’m staying hopeful that it will turn out to be something special. I’m even hoping it surprises me the same way Khemjira did last year.

    Love Upon A Time tells the story of Nakhun, a practical and skeptical man who never believed in the supernatural—until fate unexpectedly sends him nearly four hundred years back in time to the Ayutthaya Kingdom. There, he is mistaken for a missing man named Klao. With no other choice, Nakhun assumes Klao’s identity while searching for answers about Klao’s mysterious disappearance and trying to find a way back to his own era. But things become complicated when Klao’s close friend, Phop, begins to sense that something isn’t quite right. Suspicious and watchful, Phop keeps a close eye on Nakhun, unsure whether the man before him is truly who he claims to be.

    Love Upon A Time is scheduled to premiere on March 27 on iQIYI. 🎬

#03. FLOWER BOY

 

    After the success of their BL series last year, Pearl and Peak are preparing to return together in a brand-new fantasy-romance BL drama. Although it hasn’t been officially confirmed whether the series will premiere this year, fans are already anticipating something special—especially considering the strong chemistry the two actors displayed in their previous project. Their earlier performance left a lasting impression, which is why expectations for this upcoming series are naturally quite high.

    What makes the project even more interesting is its unusual premise. The synopsis introduces a concept that feels refreshingly different from most BL stories we’ve seen before.

    Flower Boy tells the story of a young man assigned with a secret mission: to persuade someone from the mysterious tribe of flowers known as the “Mootan.” According to legend, members of this tribe possess bodies capable of producing an extraordinary level of pheromones—far beyond what any human or animal could naturally generate—making them incredibly valuable to a powerful company. As the mission unfolds, the question becomes more complicated: will he succeed in fulfilling his duty, or will his growing emotions lead him to choose love instead? 🌸

#04. CRAZY LOVE MOO MOO

 

    Having seen Boss and Noeul’s previous project, which leaned heavily into serious themes, I initially assumed this new series would follow a similar tone. Yet, it surprises by taking a completely different—and delightfully exciting—direction. The overall energy of this upcoming BL gives me vibes similar to Me and Thee, which only makes me more eager to see how the story develops once it airs. Beyond the main couple, two side pairings also stand out, particularly because of their contrasting dynamics and storylines.

    Crazy Love Moo Moo follows Hia Fu, a legendary, love-obsessed Chinese boy who has been chasing Moo since high school. But Moo repeatedly brushes him off, as Hia Fu doesn’t fit his ideal: someone bold, fiery, and far from the clean-cut type he usually goes for. Moo never misses a chance to sass Hia Fu, but every rejection only fuels Hia Fu’s determination, driving him to pursue Moo relentlessly, hoping one day to upgrade their relationship to “boyfriends.” Their romance unfolds amid the chaos of siblings and close friends, resulting in a story that’s hilarious, shyly sweet, and wrapped in the warmth of a traditional Chinese family setting.

    Crazy Love Moo Moo is set to premiere on May 9. 💖

#05. MAGIC MOVE

 

    This might be one of the most puzzling trailers I’ve come across, mainly because some of the actors look strikingly similar. Both the trailer and the official pilot give off strong vibes reminiscent of BL series from the past, so I’m not entirely sure whether that’s a positive or a negative. There are also a few actors whose performances didn’t quite grab me, based on what I observed in the trailer and pilot. That said, the series still looks promising, and there’s a sense of unpredictability about how the story will unfold.

    Magic Move tells the story of a final-year architecture student who, by accident, becomes a famous university fortune teller. To maintain his newfound fame, he fabricates a claim that he was the childhood “ship partner” of a wealthy real estate heir. What starts as a harmless lie gradually evolves into genuine feelings, just as another young man returns from a failed attempt to become a star in Korea, searching for his former ship partner—who, fatefully, turns out to be the same real estate heir.

    Magic Move is scheduled to premiere on April 21. ✨

#06. THE EDGE OF HORIZON

 

    He previously appeared in a supporting role in The Wicked Game, but now he steps into the spotlight as one of the main actors in this series. I had hoped his character would have a romantic storyline in The Wicked Game, so it’s exciting to see him paired with his own on-screen partner here—especially since their chemistry looks genuinely strong.

    While historical love stories centered on differences in social status are not entirely new, they remain timelessly compelling. It will be intriguing to see how this series puts its own unique spin on the familiar concept. From the official trailer, the show already hints at plenty of drama and emotional tension, promising a story that could be both intense and captivating.

    The Edge of Horizon follows the story of two individuals who fall in love despite their differing social ranks. One has only his honor to rely on, while the other carries the weight of a royal lineage. Their love faces obstacles shaped by status, duty, and the expectations of the world around them.

 

    In addition to the series we’ve covered, there’s also another Thai BL titled Mon Merng Mang (#07), a thriller-drama with a hint of romance, adapted from its original novel.
