Their dynamic occasionally disrupts the pacing, drawing attention away from the stronger emotional core of the series. Despite these shortcomings, the heart of My Tooth Your Love remains firmly intact. The drama avoids many of the unnecessary misunderstandings and toxic relationship tropes that often plague romantic series, choosing instead to focus on trust, healing, and emotional support. Many viewers point to its uneven pacing, while others struggle with the main character's initially overbearing behavior, making the early episodes somewhat difficult to fully embrace. These flaws are valid, and they can leave the first part of the drama feeling rough around the edges.

    However, what ultimately elevates the series is the sincerity with which it tells its story. Its portrayal of a deaf protagonist is handled with remarkable care and respect, allowing the character's experiences, struggles, and emotions to feel authentic rather than merely symbolic. Combined with thoughtful direction and visually expressive storytelling, the drama captures emotional moments with a level of sensitivity that consistently resonates. The chemistry between the leads is another major strength, transforming what could have been a collection of quirky tropes into a genuinely touching healing journey.     I wasn’t entirely sure how a story built around fake-relationship training would unfold, but Secret Lover quickly pulled me in with its fast-paced, chaotic energy. It has since become one of my lowkey favorite Taiwanese BLs, largely because of the undeniable, electric chemistry between the leads. Their connection feels intense and uninhibited, delivering some of the most passionate kisses and naturally affectionate domestic moments that make their relationship surprisingly addictive to watch. The series thrives in its early episodes by leaning into bold, playful dynamics that keep the momentum consistently engaging.

    That said, the drama is not without significant criticism. Han Tuo’s behavior, in particular, raises concerns due to his questionable boundaries and manipulative tendencies, especially when his actions toward Jun Xi cross into emotionally gray and potentially toxic territory. These aspects make parts of the story uncomfortable for some viewers. Additionally, the second half of the series struggles with pacing, as its once energetic tone shifts abruptly into heavier, more serious subplots involving workplace harassment and family conflict, which feel somewhat rushed and unevenly integrated.

    Despite these structural flaws and moral ambiguities, Secret Lover still manages to hold attention through its strong emotional pull and the magnetic presence of its leads. The chemistry remains the driving force that carries the story, making it difficult to look away even when the narrative stumbles. Ultimately, its mix of addictive entertainment value and complicated character dynamics is exactly why it continues to earn a defended spot among my personal favorites.

    My low-key favorites don’t end with Taiwanese BL series—they stretch further into the wider BL universe, including those titles that often get dismissed or heavily criticized, yet still manage to linger in my personal list of favorites.
