All-Time Top 10 Japanese BL Dramas (2021)

 All-Time Top 10 Japanese BL Dramas (2021)

Japanese BL Dramas are among the finest in the industry, with some of the most original stories and a real portrayal of the culture. In this article, we'll look at ten Japanese BL Dramas that are still worth watching in 2021. If I've left anything off this list, please let us know in the comments area below. Prior to then, owing to geo-blocked restrictions, some of these shows may not be available in your country. Let's get started without further ado.

#10. Ossan's Love

This series was recently adapted in Hong Kong and broadcast on Viu and Line TV, but the original Japanese BL is also worth seeing. Soichi, a 33-year-old unmarried man who isn't popular with ladies, is the protagonist of Ossan's Love. When he has to live alone, he resides with a coworker who is a wonderful housekeeper. Two of his coworkers unexpectedly declare their affections to Soichi one day. Those who wish to view this Japanese BL may do so on Netflix in a variety of countries, including Japan, India, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand.

#9. Seven Days: Friday-Sunday

This Japanese BL film was based on the same-named manga. This Japanese BL relates the story of Toji, who was asked out by Yuzuru on the spur of the moment. On Monday, their connection begins and ends on Sunday. As the days pass, sentiments other than friendship begin to surface. It's almost Friday, and their romance will soon come to an end. When Sunday arrives, all will be revealed. Even though Seven Days: Friday-Sunday was published in 2015, it is still worth viewing in 2021.

#8. My Brother's Husband

This three-episode Japanese series may be short, but it tells the entire narrative properly. My Brother's Husband is not your usual BL series since it presents a narrative about LGBT or homosexual society. The narrative of Yaichi, who has a daughter called Kana, is told in My Brother's Husband. When Mike, a Canadian man, comes and claims to be Yaichi's estranged gay twin, Ryoji, their lives are turned upside down. When it comes to embracing homosexual romance, My Brother's Husband will highlight the contrasts between two cultures.

#7. Absolute BL

Absolute BL would be the best and most entertaining BL to watch in 2021. If you're having a terrible day, this Japanese BL with a lot of funny moments may be just what you need. Absolute BL recounts the narrative of Mob, who discovers that he is a part of the BL universe. He is so convinced of himself that he prefers girls that any hot males who approach him must be turned down. However, living in the world of BL is a hardship for him; there is no way out. Absolute BL has four episodes and is available on WeTV and Viki.

#6. His: I Didn't Mean To Fall In Love

This Japanese BL has a total of 5 episodes and was published in 2019. Nagisa, a 17-year-old kid in his second year of high school, is the protagonist of this BL. Nagisa finds himself alone in a coastal village, where he meets a passionate surfer. Shun and Nagisa are the same age, and they create a bond that is more than just friendship. When Chika confesses her secret love for Nagisa, a love triangle will erupt. On Viki, you may see His: I Didn't Mean To Fall In Love.

#5. What Did You Eat Yesterday

Food-themed BL Series are on the rise in 2021, while a similar topic in Japanese BL already existed in 2019. This Japanese BL has a total of 12 episodes and can be seen on Netflix. In Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand, What Did You Eat Yesterday is accessible. Shiro, a 45-year-old lawyer at a tiny business, and Kenji, Shiro's partner and a charming hairdresser, are the protagonists of What Did You Eat Yesterday. Despite the fact that the two have been together for over three years, Shiro never admits to being homosexual and refers to Kenji as his boyfriend.

#4. Cherry Magic

This Japanese BL is my personal favorite of the bunch, and if you've already seen it, you might agree with me. Cherry Magic has 12 episodes and is available on WeTV and Cruchyroll. Adachi, a 30-year-old man who is still a virgin, is the protagonist of Cherry Magic. As a result, he acquires the supernatural ability to read other people's minds just by touching them. He was first overwhelmed by his newfound abilities, but when he inadvertently touched Kurosawa and learnt of his love for him, it altered his life forever.

#3. Restart After Come Back Home

On September 4, 2020, this Japanese BL film was launched, and it provided us with an incredible narrative. Restart After Come Back Home is a film about a young guy who quits his work in Tokyo and returns to his hometown for the first time in ten years. Returning to his roots, he encounters Yamato, a farmer's adoptive son. When they chose to work on the farm together, their friendship blossomed and began to transform them both. If you've seen this film, please leave your thoughts in the comments section below.

#2. His

His- I Didn't Mean To Fall In Love, the sequel to His, is a powerful competitor in a pool of Japanese BL films, and it truly deserves to be at the top of the list. His is a sequel to His- I Didn't Mean To Fall In Love, and it follows the tale of His- I Didn't Mean To Fall In Love, but with a time jump. Both Shun and Nagisa parted ways after they didn't end up together. The two would meet again years later, but Nagisa already has a daughter of his own. Can they reconcile and remain together for the rest of their lives, despite Shun's realization that he still has feelings for him?

#1. Life: Love on the Line

Aside from Cherry Magic, Life Love on the Line is another favorite of mine, and it did a fantastic job of capturing the narrative and content. Life Love on the Line is a four-episode series available on WeTV and Viki. Akira and Yuuki meet by accident on the white line on the sidewalk in Life Love on the Line. With the passage of time, the two become closer and decided to stroll side by side for a change. Their relationship isn't ideal, but it's grounded on reality.

Japanese BL Dramas are fantastic, and I'm looking forward to seeing more in the future. Which of our Japanese BL Dramas is your personal favorite? Thank you for taking the time to read this! That's all for now, and I'll see you on the next one.
