 2021's 12 Most Popular BL Series

    With the year 2021 coming to a close in a matter of days, MyDramaList has compiled a list of the most popular BL series of the year. These are frequently the most popular titles on the platform, as well as the most talked about by fans. Of course, this isn't a complete list for every fan, but it does give us an indication of which BL series was the talk of the town when it aired earlier this year. Disclaimer: This is not in any particular order, and my BL series rating for this year will very certainly change from this one. Which BL series do you think will be the most popular in 2021? #1. Manner of Death

    This Thai BL may premiere in 2020, but given that the majority of its episodes aired this year, it's reasonable to assume that it'll be part of the 2021 roster. Because of its unusual narrative and, of course, the return of Max and Tul in a BL genre, Manner Of Death was one of the most anticipated BL series of last year. Every fan who wished to explore a different sort of BL series was given a present with the mix of action, thriller, suspense, and drama in one package. With its narrative, Manner Of Death provided us with a great experience of viewing a Thai BL.

#2. Color Rush

    Color Rush, like Manner Of Death, premiered in the last week of 2020, yet we may still classify it as a 2021 BL series because the majority of its episodes aired in that year. Because of the engaging narrative it had when it aired, Color Rush was a very popular BL series. The narrative of mono and probe has never been told before in a series, let alone a BL series. My only criticism of this BL is that it was far too short to truly appreciate the drama, and it left us wanting more information on their relationship as lovers. Fortunately, Season 2 of Color Rush will premiere in 2022.

#3. I Promised You the Moon

    I Told Sunset About You was my favorite BL series of 2020, and I was hoping for a sequel with an as great tale and premise. Fortunately, I Promised You The Moon provided us with a stunning narrative that, if I were to be asked, did not disappoint. In some ways, the unending storyline of cheating in a Thai BL may be dubious, yet it does happen in reality. Despite the fact that Teh is one of the key characters in the story, I will not tolerate him for what he has done. I still believe Oh deserved someone better, someone who would actually care for him, but I suppose that was always going to be the outcome.

#4. Fish Upon the Sky

    This was GMMTV's second BL of the year, and I was genuinely relieved that it had surpassed A Tale Of Thousand Stars. The major reason was that, in comparison to the sorrowful A Tale Of Thousand Stars, it had a light and humorous storyline. Pond and Phuwin were given to us as a first-time BL pair by Fish Upon The Sky, and I was quite pleased with the chemistry they had bestowed upon us. I didn't like some of the situations in this BL, but altogether, Fish Upon The Sky was an excellent show.

#5. Bad Buddy

    This BL isn't finished yet, yet it's already at the top of some fans' lists of favorite BL series. Because the majority of this BL's episodes will air in 2021, I classified it as a 2021 BL rather than a 2022 BL. Ohm and Nanon's chemistry is some of the best I've seen in the last several years, and it's absolutely radiating. Bad Buddy has a basic premise, but because it's done well and has a superb cast, it's providing us with a fantastic BL series for everyone. Bad Buddy isn't flawless, but it hits all of the BL's requirements.

#6. Be Loved In House: I Do

    Although the story's tempo falls short, I believe this program to be one of my favorites for 2021. It began off well, but I believe a lot of things happened along the way, and it lost sight of what was important in the plot. Still, Be Loved In House: I Do made us laugh with one of the most amusing stories in a BL for 2021, as well as one of the sexiest kisses.

#7. Light On Me

    This BL is one of my favorites for 2021, and I believe it is one of the finest Korean BLs ever. We were used to Korean BLs that were short in terms of episode count and screen time, but Light On Me changed that and gave us a good Korean BL. The love triangle between our main characters was the main ingredient of this BL, and it really delivered on confusing us as to which pair would end up sailing. I'm hopeful that in 2022, we'll have another Korean BL with the same quality as Light On Me, if not better.

#8. You Make Me Dance

    You Make Me Dance, a popular Korean BL Series, is another popular program. Although it wasn't as well-known as Light On Me, it did provide us with a different collection of stories that we hadn't seen in other famous shows. Until You Make Me Dance, the romance between a debt collector and a university student wasn't as spectacular. Korean BL's provide a variety of foods, but I'm hoping that in 2022, they'll serve the whole menu.

#9. To My Star

    Aside from Light On Me, To My Star became a huge hit with BL fans due to the wonderful narrative and chemistry of the main characters. Even though it was brief, the narrative managed to express its message satisfactorily. Thankfully, To My Star will return in 2022 for a second season, and we're still hoping for a happy ending for the main characters.

#10. Lovely Writer

    Lovely Writer is one of the greatest Thai BLs of 2021, and it also happens to be one of the most popular shows. The primary narrative of Lovely Writer was the show's true centerpiece, but the chemistry between the major characters shined brightly throughout the series' run. Some may think it was dull, but it was actually entertaining to see. For every BL lover, Lovely Writer revealed several scenarios that are relevant and contemporary.

#11. A Tale of Thousand Stars

    If A Tale Of Thousand Stars isn't featured in our most popular BL series for 2021, it's not complete. Indeed, A Tale Of Thousand Stars started the year with a bang, and many fans were blown away by this amazing narrative. The idea was innovative at the time, but the scenes' execution brought a lot of value to the whole tale. Earth and Mix were a great fit, and they both did a fantastic job with their roles. A Tale Of Thousand Stars deserves to be a successful BL series.

#12. We Best Love

 

    Seasons 1 and 2 of the Taiwanese BL series are the most popular this year in Taiwan. Despite the narrative being typical of the enemies-to-lovers genre, there was something about it that I couldn't explain as to why it was such a great program. Their chemistry was fantastic, and their personalities were well-acted. The storyline was very basic, but the series elevated it to new heights. Overall, We Best Love provided us with a love story that we had not anticipated.

    The fact that such shows aren't on our list doesn't imply they're bad. There are still a lot of undiscovered treasures out there waiting to be discovered and appreciated.
