SPOILER FOR EPISODE 10 OF THE BAD BUDDY SERIES
SPOILER FOR EPISODE 10 OF THE BAD BUDDY SERIES
If you believe Bad Buddy has achieved its apogee, I'm guessing there will be a lot more exciting things to come in the next three episodes. Episode 9 has made me feel every emotion possible, and I'm not sure if my sanity will be able to handle the following episodes. In this episode, a number of things happened that were inspired by sequences in the novel, and I'll explain how they differed from the book. Which sequence from the most recent episode of Bad Buddy is your favorite? I'd appreciate it if you could let me know in the comments area. Let's get started without further ado.
My Opinions on Episode 9
Last week's Episode 8 had already evoked a lot of emotions and stress in me, but Episode 9 outdid it in terms of narrative surprise. The narrative of Episode 9 began with a major surprise concerning Wai's character. Because he considers Pran to be his best buddy, I wasn't expecting him to do it to him. Wai's nasty grin as he outed Pat and Pran's connection in front of a large group of people is still fresh in my mind, and I'll never forget it. Wai was my crush at the time, but his rage issues were a significant turn off for me. Wai has a tendency to throw punches every minute or so, which is not a nice quality in a person. What I enjoyed best about this episode was how Pat and Pran persevered in their relationship despite the fact that both of their departments despised them. If this happened in a different Thai BL, I'm quite sure it would be a major problem for the main couple, but it's not the case in Bad Buddy, and I enjoyed it. As a result, they became a solid and healthy pair. The problem with their pals has been resolved, but the series' biggest setback is the familial dispute between Pat and Pran's families. Overall, Episode 9 answered a lot of questions for the program, and it was brilliantly done. Nonetheless, this episode ended on a cliffhanger, and we'll have to wait another two weeks to find out what happens next.
Friends of Pat and Pran
Last Friday, when I was watching Episode 9, I came to a number of conclusions regarding both major characters' friends. Pran's friends were unable to publicly embrace Pat and Pran's relationship. They believed they had been deceived because Pran had kept the facts hidden from them. I know their sentiments are legitimate and that they need an explanation because they frequently asked Pran about it, and there was no reason to make Pat and Pran's connection public. Despite the fact that this connection aided the major characters in progressing and developing. The side characters, on the other hand, did the opposite. Many people despised Wai because of what he did to his closest buddy, and I felt sad for him. Pran's other friends were also wary of him since he kept the truth from them, demonstrating what type of friends they are. Korn, on the other hand, is a real Pat buddy. Despite the fact that the architecture students were their rivals and opponents, he was unconcerned about Pat and Pran's relationship. If I were Pran, and I had friends like Wai and the other two, I would unfriend them immediately. They may be enraged at Pran, but they lack the right to publicly humiliate him.
Moments of Ink & Pa
Pat and Pran have already provided several lovely moments in this episode, but I never expected an InkPa moment to make me scream at the top of my lungs. If these two become an official pair on the program, I'd want to see them get their own show so we can get a GL from GMMTV this time. We already have a lot of BL this year and next year, so a GL is a gift that everyone will appreciate.
In contrast to the novel
There were a lot of references to novel passages in this episode, but it was done in a unique way. First, it was Pat and Pran, not Wai, who revealed Pat and Pran's connection in the book. Pat persuaded Pran to tell their friends the truth about their relationship just after the Engineering department won a basketball game. Pat and Pran arrived at the party and Pat introduced Pran as his lover. Then there's the fact that Pat wasn't really charged with unlawful gun possession in the novel. Despite the fact that both the series and the novel had the same antagonist, the novel version was not as serious as the series. Third, Wai went to the hospital where Pat was being held for the sole purpose of bringing some meals for them. Wai was still cool toward Pat, but he had already accepted him as Pran's lover, including his pals, at the moment. Last but not least, Pa and her parents did not pay a visit to Pat in the hospital. For those who are curious as to why they only see Pat after a full day has passed since the event, Pat refused to tell them, including Pa. That would undoubtedly be the case with Pat on the show, but someone else might have said what had occurred to him and his family.
Stereotypes are being challenged.
The wife and husband endearment has been a thing for practically all Thai BL's for a long time. I'm glad that was handled in the most recent episode, when it was said that calling boyfriend would suffice as an affection. A man-to-man relationship should stand on its own and not necessarily be connected with heterosexual couples. Another issue is the phrase "I'm not homosexual, I just like him." The novel and series do an excellent job of illustrating what it means to be truly gay, with Pat constantly stating in the novel that if loving Pran makes him gay, then be it.
Pran's father had threatened him.
As I previously stated, the novel is taking a different path than the series, which I believe is a positive development. Just to review what I said in last week's blog, Pat and Pran's families discovered that they both slept in the same dormitory, which led to a feud between the two families. Pat walked inside and apologized to Pran's parents for what had transpired when Pran's parents were shouting with him in his dormitory room. Pran did not need to move out of their hostel, according to Pat, because he still needed to finish his examinations. Pran recognized his boyfriend's face as he attempted to resolve their conflict. Pran's father and Pran got into a fight inside his room over why Pran didn't inform them they were in the same hostel. Pran just stated that he could not see anything wrong with it. Both of them were enraged, but Pran didn't see why he should try to calm down. The two argued back and forth, claiming that the children had nothing to do with their parents' quarrel. Pran also expressed his displeasure with their parents' irrational views on the competition between the two families. However, Pran was taken aback by something. His father advised him to consider allowing him to continue his studies. Pran recalled how, when his cousin went to study overseas, his father wished to accompany him. After that, his father concluded their conversation by telling Pran not to allow him do the things he doesn't want to do. This sequence is really unrelated to the narrative of the series, although it might still happen if the last three episodes don't go as planned. The core reason of Pat and Pran's family rivalry might be revealed in episode 10, therefore there could be another storyline twist in the following few scenes.
Due to the Christmas season, Episode 10 will not show next Friday and will return on January 7 of the following year. Bad Buddy is a series that has a lot of ups and downs, and it's a lot of fun to watch. Everyone have a wonderful holiday season! Thank you for taking the time to read this! That's all for now, and I'll see you on the next one.
