6 BL Series I'm Currently Watching [February 2022]
The BL World has never had too many presently showing BL Series at the same time, but 2022 will be the year when we may pick and choose what we want to watch based on our tastes. Right now, I'm watching 6 BL Series, and each of them has piqued my interest, either because of the characters or the premise. Because of several incoming BL series later this month, such as Cutie Pie and Cherry Blossoms After Winter, my list may get even longer, and I can't wait to see their pilot episodes. What BL Series are you watching right now? Let us know in the comments section. Let's get straight into the blog without further ado.
#1. Not Me
To be really honest with you, I only started watching this BL with the first episode, which means I'm 8 weeks behind on the newest episode. It's not that I don't want to watch it or that it doesn't suit my tastes; I simply want to view more episodes all at once since waiting for a single episode every week is difficult. I've just watched the first episode, but I'm immediately engrossed in the tale. The BL portion is really so subtle that it feels so natural, and it fits in well with the series' genre. After viewing the likes of Bad Buddy, which was a pure romantic comedy series, Not Me is a refreshing blend of mystery, suspense, and romance all at once. Not Me was like a reset button for everything you've seen before, and it'll transport you to a world you've never seen before. Despite having only seen one episode, it is now my favorite among those on this list. Another thing I've noticed is that Off and Gun are giving solid performances in this series, and it's refreshing to see Off in a serious role. GMMTV's YouTube channel has a series called Not Me that you may view.
#2. Enchanté
Unlike Not Me, I've already seen all of Enchanté's episodes because it's still relatively new and takes over Bad Buddy's time slot every Friday. To be honest, I find Enchanté easier to watch than Not Me, not because it is better, but because it has a simpler narrative. Unlike Not Me, which takes your full concentration so you don't miss any minor details, I can relax while watching this series. Enchanté may not be on the same level as Not Me in terms of plot depth, but it will undoubtedly entertain you since everyone is really attractive, and the chemistry between Force and Book is rather natural, if I may say so. But, like everyone else, I first believed that Force and Book are quite similar to one another, and that people are misidentifying which is which, despite the fact that after three episodes, this is no longer an issue. To be honest, I believe Enchanté has excellent cinematography, which is one of the reasons I enjoy the series. On GMMTV's YouTube account, you may watch Enchanté.
#3. Something In My Room
I'm also watching another Thai BL series right now, albeit this one isn't produced by GMMTV like my previous two BL series. Something In My Room is a distinct sort of BL because of its theme, and I was hesitant to watch it because it included ghosts. I just started watching this, and after seeing the first episode, I've decided that the next episodes should be watched in broad daylight due to the odd jump scares and disturbing characters. If there's one thing I'd want to see improved, it's the acting abilities of the two major characters. It might be because I've only seen the first episode, but the two could still improve on what they've done thus far in the tale. Another consideration is that the story's genre may have a role, which I believe is reasonable. Many fans are comparing this show to GMMTV's He's Coming To Me because of the similarities, however Something In My Room focuses more on the creepy atmosphere than He's Coming To Me does on the romantic plot. Overall, Something In My Room is a good BL series to watch if you're looking for something different. This BL may be seen on 3Plus' YouTube account as well as their website.
#4. First Love Again
This February, Korean BLs are making a big splash, and a lot of them are airing at the same time. First Love Again is a step up from previous Korean BLs since each episode is substantially longer and can reveal and explain more of the tale. Although the concept of reincarnation and ancient love isn't new, I like where this BL is heading. There's no doubt about the characters' physical appearances because they're all attractive, but I'll have to wait and see if their chemistry grows on me. I've just seen the first episode, so there's no interaction between the major characters yet, but I think it has a lot of promise. As of this writing, episode 2 has been published, but I haven't watched it yet so that I can provide more background on the characters. Depending on your location, you may watch First Love Again on Viki or GaGaOOLala.
#5. Kissable Lips
Another Korean BL series on my watch list, however First Love Again has a distinct plot. Kissable Lips is about a Vampire and a pure-blooded human, but the first Korean BL I described previously on this list is about the reincarnation of a couple from 300 years ago. I've already seen the first four episodes, and I really enjoy it since it's such a unique plot. The issue that I usually have with Korean BLs is still there this time, despite the fact that each episode is just 10 minutes long, which I believe is still insufficient. In terms of the plot, I was a bit confused in the early episodes because the two characters had already fallen in love in such a short period of time. This might be due to the short time frame, but they could have done a lot better. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the Korean BL's climax next week, as well as the possibility of a film adaptation. Viki and BiliBili both have Kissable Lips available to watch.
#6. Semantic Error
This is by far my favorite Korean BL on my watch list right now, and it's all down to the chemistry between the main characters. Despite the fact that I didn't understand a single thing about game developments, the contrast in personalities of the key characters helped me to get interested in the plot. I may be exaggerating, but the first episodes do an excellent job of introducing the overall scenario. I enjoy the two main characters' characteristics, and I'm glad they didn't alter with the flick of a finger. This allows the characters to have greater depth instead of merely showing it for the purpose of the tale. The two have a lot of tension between them, which is why their roles are so successful. Viki and GagaOOLala both have Semantic Error available to view.
These are now on my watch list, but I intend to see additional BL Series if they are of interest to me. Cutie Pie and Cherry Blossoms After Winter are both releasing soon, so I'm excited to add them to my watch list. What BL Series are you watching right now? Thank you for taking the time to read this blog. That's all for now, and I'll see you on the next one.
