The 8 Best BL Series and Movies on Netflix in 2022

The 8 Best BL Series and Movies on Netflix in 2022

Netflix is one of the most popular streaming platforms today, and it is progressively releasing a number of BL content to its audiences. Netflix has been striving to catch up to other streaming services over the past two years by offering some of the most popular BL series to its subscribers. In this blog, we'll discuss some of the greatest BL series and movies available on Netflix right now. In the comments box below, you may also mention your favorite Netflix BL shows. Let's get straight into the blog without further ado.

#1. Heartstopper

I've been reading some of the comments on my past posts, and many of you have recommended this series to us. I'm not going to lie, I'm already a fan of this show after just watching three episodes. I'm not accustomed to watching Western romantic shows because I can relate to BLs from Asian countries better, but Heartstopper grabbed my attention right away. Their relationship seemed natural because of the excellent acting talents. I also enjoy the side characters and couples since they add to the overall flow of the plot, which does not focus just around a single love story. I like how they include lesbian couples in this series because it portrays a range of love stories and adds depth to the plot. Heartstopper is a fantastic show that teaches us that society cannot control our feelings. It is always us who make the decisions.

#2. The Miracle of Teddy Bear

The Miracle Of Teddy Bear is another BL series that I'm presently watching on Netflix. Because it has aspects from past Thai BLs, this Thai BL gives me a nostalgic sense when I watch it. The Miracle Of Teddy Bear is a well-rounded series since it covers a wide range of topics, from personal to political. It's not simple to put up a series like this since consistency is crucial. We could see how deep the tale is from the beginning to the current available episode, and it was always backed up by relevant representation. Although each episode of The Miracle Of Teddy Bear is an hour and a half lengthy, I can assure you that it is one of the greatest BLs available and well worth your time.

#3. Young Royals

If Heartstopper was the flagship in 2022, Young Royals was the flagship in 2021, and it drew a large audience due to its quality. Having a gay relationship is difficult as a commoner due to the judgemental culture, but it is even more difficult if you are from a royal family. The story follows Prince Wilhelm of Sweden and his blossoming gay romance with a fellow student, as well as the turmoil that ensues. Young Royals may not have had a happy ending, but a second season is slated to premiere in 2022 to continue the characters' story.

#4. Your Name Engraved Herein

Your Name Engraved Herein is one of the greatest BL films I've watched. I've always like watching lighthearted and humorous BL shows because they provide me with energy and encouragement for the day, but life isn't always like that. Your Name Engraved Herein takes that concept and uses it to create a compelling story. Your Name Engraved Herein is the story of Jia Han and Birdy, two Christian high school students who met in a school band taught by a Canadian priest. They were given a day off to attend the late president's burial in Taipei. The two took advantage of the opportunity to explore the city and theaters, being inspired by blooming love and freedom. I cried at the end because I understood that we only have one life and that whatever decisions we make in the past will determine our fate in the future.

#5. Like In The Movies

Like In The Movies, one of the finest BL shows from 2020, is now accessible on Netflix. This series has always been one of my favorites since it portrays a narrative that is not just about homosexual romance but also about the real condition of LGBTQ+ people. Representation has always been disregarded in certain former BLs, but happily, many current BL shows are more rounded than merely adorable and humorous. Like In The Movies provided an outstanding plot that will be regarded as a classic. The narrative of Karl and Vlad, who happen to be housemates when the latter walks away from their home, is told in Like In The Movies. In order to avoid Vlad's sister and pay Karl's rent, the two were obliged to fake their relationship.

#6. Sea Him

I already watched this BL. Sea Him is a Vietnamese BL about Tien, a senior photography student who travels to Cua Can commune for his graduation thesis and Tai, an impoverished guy who lives in a fishing community near the sea. The two characters' romance develops progressively from friendship to brotherhood. They look after one other via numerous interactions, uncommon occurrences, and humorous situations. Then, from an unknown point, they gradually evolve into intense love. Sea Him has excellent cinematography, easily outperforming other recent BL shows.

#7. Gameboys

Gameboys has always been a favorite of mine, and happily, a new season will premiere next month. Gameboys is still a relevant show because of the ideals it integrates in its storyline, despite the fact that it was released in 2020. This BL follows Cairo, an adolescent streamer who is taken aback when he receives a video chat from a new online opponent named Gavreel. He's even more taken aback when the attractive stranger invites him out. Will two gamers' romance survive the pandemic lockdown, or will their relationship be doomed? I only hope that season 2 does honor to the first season, which aired two years ago.

#8. My Love Mix-Up

There's no doubting that My Love Mix-Up would hit our hearts when it first aired, and thankfully, we were able to see it on Netflix. We can watch this series without worrying about fully comprehending its narrative because the story is basic and light. My Love Mix-Up follows Aoki, who has a love on Hashimoto, the girl sitting next to him in class. But when he borrows her eraser, he discovers that she has scribbled the name of another guy, Ida, on it. To add to the confusion, Ida notices Aoki clutching the same eraser and believes he has a crush on him. The comedy element of this series compelled me to watch it several times, and it was well worth it.

Aside from these titles, Netflix has a number of more BL shows that can pique your curiosity. Which one of these series is your personal favorite? Thank you for stopping by! That's all for now, and I'll see you on the next one.
