Eight new BL Series will premiere in August 2022.
Eight new BL Series will premiere in August 2022.
There are only a few days left in July, but August is looking better for us because 8 new forthcoming BLs will undoubtedly storm us! The majority of you will be seeking for new content to watch after KinnPorsche, Triage, and Sky In Your Heart finished this July, so I'm delighted that there are a lot of new releases scheduled for next month. Which BL Series are you most excited to see in August? Comment on it in the space provided below. Let's start the blog straight now without further ado.
#1. WAR OF Y THE SERIES
Given that it is divided into 4 parts, this isn't really an ordinary BL, albeit the final part might not be. These four War of Y stories share similar storyline elements with Lovely Writer from 2021, yet each story has a different twist. Here is the summary for those who haven't read it: Real war is not fought with weapons, but with people. This depicts the sense of a conflict blazing with cunning, hatred, and treachery. Four stories about conflicts in the entertainment industry make up War of Y. Story 1: New Ship: Before to the ship, things weren't simple. Yet this new era is much more challenging. The second narrative, "War of Managers," tells the story of a ship pair who are secretly a genuine couple. Drama and managers conflict until the couple is forced to split up. Story 3 - Y-Idol: The chaos of the Idol Camp and a reality competition to find new actors who can sing, dance, and act. Story 4: Wife: Will a shipped couple's career prospects be destroyed if one of them marries? Despite the fact that this series has several subplots, the problems of the entertainment industry serve as its unifying theme. I'm rather eager to see this show in order to see the other, less appealing side of the business—the one that is rarely seen. On August 2, War of Y will premiere.
#2. 21 DAYS THEORY
Do you still have any memories of watching Make It Right in 2016? The fact that 21 Days Theory is set in high school means that watching it will make you feel similarly. I've stopped being as interested in these types of stories since I started watching more mature BL stories from years ago, but it will depend on the narrative and plotline. In this story, X and Q are the main characters. X makes a challenge to Q to date a female within a week. Q's friend will try to help him, but things will get much more challenging. What will happen to the challenge, though, if they both start to feel something for one another? The plot is quite simple, but because they are representing high school students, I don't mind. Just let me know if the plot is fantastic. On August 7, 21 Days Theory will be shown on the YouTube channel of Rookie Thailand.
#3. PAPA & DADDY S2
One of the top BLs of 2021, Papa & Daddy will have a second season this year. Despite the fact that some people would not classify this as a BL due to its content, I do, but in a more mature way that takes into account the realities of our society. Season 1 was more self-centered than Season 2, which will be in a lot more challenging scenario. Here is the synopsis: Season 2 of the story of 4-year-old Kai and his two fathers, Damian and Jerry, begins with an unexpected visitor: Jimmy, the kid of Damian and his ex. Damian and Jerry's lives become turbulent when Jimmy shows around. Damian looks after Jimmy a lot and maintains contact with his ex. Jerry begins to feel jealous and concerned that Damian could develop feelings for a woman once more. He is currently under pressure from his mother, who wants him to have a biological kid of his own. Damian, on the other hand, is having trouble managing caring for Jimmy and Jerry. I'm just a little disappointed that one of the main characters won't be recast for season 2, but at least there will be a sequel. On August 8, GaGaOOLala will begin airing Papa & Daddy Season 2.
#4. MY ONLY 12%
My Only 12% would be my preferred choice for its narrative if I had to base my opinion solely on the trailer. Even if this series is also about high school, the emotional component is the icing on the cake, and I can't wait to witness it for myself. The summary for this BL is as follows: Cake and See-ew get along despite their opposite characteristics. Cake travels, and upon his return, discovers that See-ew has changed. See-ew is approached and liked by plenty of people, which makes Cake jealous. Cake starts to doubt his affection for See-ew. In addition to the relationship difficulty, See-ew is dealing with a familial problem. See-ew's mother is sick, and he later learns that she has cancer as a result of being exposed to her husband's secondhand smoking. See-ew has anger against his father because of this. However, Cake is constantly at his side as they navigate all the challenges. See-ew comes to the realization that Cake is not only half of his existence, but rather the all of everything. There's a good chance that this series will have many situations that shatter our hearts, but I'm praying for a happy conclusion. On August 12, My Only 12% will premiere on iQiYi.
#5. 180° LONGITUDE PASSES THROUGH US
The title of this series is certainly unique, but what matters is the story it wants to tell us—a story that is unlike any we have previously seen from other BLs. Because age gaps—in addition to the mother-son narrative—are the series' major focus, this BL is not for people who dislike them. The summary of this show is as follows: Sasiwimol is a very successful director. She has a close, friend-like relationship with her teenage son Wang. What will she do when Wang falls in love for the first time with her longtime friend Inthawut? In this age of change, love, connections, understanding, and mother and son sharing lessons learned are important. A friendship will be changed for good. According to the trailer, it appears like the plot will center exclusively on the three characters, but as long as the execution is good, this series will receive positive reviews. On August 14, 180° Longitude Passes Through Us will air.
#6. LOVE IN THE AIR
Of course, Love In The Air, a university-themed BL, will also be on our next list for August. Since they seem to be attempting to tell a number of different stories in the trailer, I have to admit that I'm a little confused. That may be because there are 4 main characters instead of the typical 2, but we'll find out when it airs. Here is the plot summary: When Rain and Sky, two close friends in trouble, are teased by clouds in the sky and rain, they are brought to Phayu and Prapai, who are not only cunning rescuers but also the men who are causing storms in the two best friends' hearts. In the pleasantly warm spring, scorching summer, lonesome autumn, and chilly winter, the fight of love is about to begin. What would the mood of love be like? Which direction would their beating hearts and the adoration-filled atmosphere lead them? Since the storyline is somewhat reminiscent of previous BLs with a university theme, I simply wish the execution were better. The cinematography is fantastic in the trailer, but it would be preferable if the storyline were refined. On August 18, Me Mind Y's official YouTube channel will stream Love In the Rain.
#7. TAKARA-KUN TO AMAGI-KUN
A Japanese BL called Takara-kun To Amagi-kun will premiere on August 19. Taichi Amagi, a pure boy who is not a noticeable type but is loved by everyone, and Takara Shun, a high school student who is a member of a popular group in the class, come to discover their love for one another. Even when they begin dating secretly, it is challenging to be open.
#8. ABOUT YOUTH
We also have the Taiwanese BL About Youth, which premieres on August 29. Ye Guang is a prominent high school student and a well-known campus idol, while Xu Qi Zhang is a guitar prince who, offstage, reveals a stronger sense of self. The two boys come from different origins and hold different ideals, but as they face off in the race to become the student president, it appears that there may be more attraction than animosity between them.
The number of BLs that are scheduled for August is exciting, but I also wish that the new shows will be of the finest quality. Which of these BL do you anticipate most in the upcoming month? I appreciate you reading. I'll see you on the next one, then.
