I've already missed seven BL couples.
I've already missed seven BL couples.
I started watching BL series a very long time ago, and since then, I have watched many BL shows that have made an impression on my heart. Sometimes, my relationship to the characters or the performers themselves matters more than just how well the story was written. I'll be presenting with you in this blog the seven on-screen BL couples that I've already missed to see in a BL show. Feel free to share your list in the comments section below if you have one of your own. Now, without further ado, let's begin.
#1. Perth & Saint (Love By Chance)
In all honesty, the premise and plotline of Love By Chance The Series weren't all that amazing. We were unable to establish a standard since there were so few BLs available at the time. But it was Perth and Saint's performances as Ae and Pete, respectively, that really cemented my love for this BL. Although I would love to see them together again in a BL series, given what transpired between their managements, this is undoubtedly far from reality. If Saint had returned to the second season of Love By Chance as Pete and created an improvised storyline to carry on his love story with Ae in a more serious manner, the season may have been improved. After joining GMMTV, there are reports that Perth will be paired with Chimon in the BL show for the next year. Even though it's still considered a rumor, there is a good chance that it will come to pass considering that Perth is well-known globally due to his previous works to the BL series. I occasionally watch random Love By Chance footage to just relive the emotions I experienced when I first saw Perth and Saint together on screen.
#2. Fluke & First (Not Me)
Due to the fact that it is not the most casual, adorable, and fluffy GMMTV BL Series, I still think this BL is one of the most underappreciated. The series' genre is the ideal technique to provide BL shows fresh perspectives and tastes that will keep us continually anticipating what will happen next. Off and Gun are one of my favorite actors in this series, and I believe this is their greatest performance since I last saw them a few years ago. But Fluke and First were the onscreen pair that piqued my interest in this story. Unknowingly, I was attracted by their incredible chemistry and became intrigued by their interactions. Although their love story isn't the main focus of Not Me, having them as a side pair increased the series' excitement because of the characters' backstories. Even though I already adore First and Khaotung in their current BL series, The Eclipse, I'm still curious about the type and storyline of a First and Fluke-starring BL series. However, as First hasn't really had a consistent on-screen partner since The Shipper, there's still a chance that First and Fluke might end up together in a future BL series.
#3. Bible & Build (KinnPorsche)
Fair enough, I've already missed the entire KinnPorsche The Series cast, from the lead to the supporting. Mile and Apo did an excellent job of providing us with a love story that was action-packed, and the story's plot twists were all just breathtaking. However, I would really like to see how Bible and Build vary from the torture scenario that we have seen in the series. The soft side of Vegas in the climax was a sign that Bible could portray a kind but mature character who would go to any lengths to defend the love of his life. Given the problem with the novel's authors, it would be preferable to keep the KinnPorsche plot as it is and simply create a separate series altogether to give audiences a distinctive flavor of their own story. I was on the edge of my seat as I saw Bible and Build engage because their chemistry was so strong. I probably won't watch KinnPorsche season 2 if they are the main protagonists because most of the time, season 2 basically focuses on treachery and infidelity.
#4 & #5. TaeTee & TonAob (Triage)
Basically, I genuinely miss the main and side pair from the series, and I would be overjoyed to see them in another BL. So let's start by discussing Tae and Tee. Although I was aware they were intended to be an on-screen relationship in that show when I first saw them, it didn't happen since 2 Moons did not yet feature their arc when I first saw them in the 2017 drama series 2 Moons The Series. In 2022, I'm thrilled that Tae and Tee get their first significant on-screen roles as a couple, and thankfully Triage is the show they were cast in. The connection was definitely there, but I believe the series' premise did wonders to bring out their natural chemistry. Apart from Tae and Tee, I'm already missing Ton and Aob because we didn't have much of a chance to see them together in the season. They fought a lot, and from the beginning of the episode till the middle, there wasn't really much development in their relationship. One of the reasons I like Ton and Aob as a pair is because they have a more balanced aura than Tae and Tee, who are more serious. It would be wonderful to see them as a couple once more on screen if there were to be a BL for them in the future.
#6. Mew & Gulf (TharnType)
Mew and Gulf, who played Tharn and Type in the series, haven't been seen in it in more than a year, and I sort of miss seeing them. Don't get me wrong, though; I don't want to see them in a following seasons of TharnType since it could feel like pushing the story a little too far. They've previously been in several adorable and serious sequences with this BL, and I believe they could still pull it off if they didn't have the non-consensual situations from their previous works. If there is good material for them to use, Mew and Guld may likewise be fantastic in a fantasy or even an action series. There is no problem with their acting abilities or their chemistry, so if they were to appear together again on screen, it would draw in their existing fan base as well as new ones. Most likely, TharnType Season 2 will be their final performance as a couple, although nobody can say for sure right now. Mew will have a Korean BL sometime in the future year, and Gulf is now preoccupied with his upcoming shows.
#7. Job & In (The Miracle Of Teddy Bear)
Personally, I think this is the most underappreciated BL series of the year. It was superbly done in terms of production, acting, and even the plot. The melancholy finale of the series, however, didn't sit well with all of the viewers. Although Nut and Tofu were truly a match made in heaven, their early interactions weren't that entertaining to witness due to Nut's dislike towards Tofu. This was eventually handled in the main characters' real backstory, and the authors did a superb job of providing him character development. The series' love story between Nut and Tofu was actually more like a journey, and the development of their personalities fit in perfectly with the scenario. I would absolutely watch it without a second thought if there were another BL with an incredible tale.
In addition to these 7 couples, there are even others that I would dearly miss seeing in a BL series, but it would take me an eternity to name them all. You miss which BL couples the most. I appreciate you reading. I'll see you on the next one, then.
