8 of the Best Korean BL Series in 2023!
With their new releases in 2023, Korean BL shows are burning the world on fire, and the number has never been this large. This blog will go through the Top 8 Korean BL series and dramas that have been released in 2023 based on their ratings on MyDramaList. Let's go straight into the blog, shall we?
#8. A Shoulder To Cry On
This Korean BL is unquestionably one of 2023's most popular BLs. Although the conclusion received mixed reactions from fans, the first several episodes were fantastic in terms of establishing the story. Lee Da Yeol, a scholar with a flair for archery, is the protagonist of A Shoulder To Cry On. Lee Da Yeol almost loses his scholarship when Tae Hyun plays a joke on him at the nurse's office. Lee Da Yeol dislikes Tae Hyun as a result of this occurrence, yet the latter continually follows him about to make Da Yeol's life miserable. Some have said that this series is more of a bromance than a real BL, however this is most likely due to the conclusion. Viki is where you can watch A Shoulder To Cry On.
#7. Jun & Jun
Jun and Jun's first three episodes were released just a few weeks ago, yet it's already on this list because to its superb aesthetics and intriguing plot. I've only seen the first episode, but even though the plot is only getting started, I'm immediately hooked in the story of Choi and Jun and their hidden past. Jun and Jun is about Lee Jun, who had a childhood first love named Choi Jun. The latter vanished without a trace, only to reappear as Lee Jun's hot general manager in a fragrance firm. What would Lee Jun's response be if he discovered that his new employer is his childhood first love? I'm curious to see where this story goes, and I hope it improves over time. GagaOOLala, WeTV, Viki, and Apple TV all carry Jun & Jun.
#6. Unintentional Love Story
This Korean BL finished a few months ago, yet it felt like yesterday when I first watched it. Unintentional Love Story isn't a flawless show, and I agree that it has flaws, but I believe it deserves to be featured here. Unintentional Love Story tells the story of Ji Won Young, who was sacked from his work despite being an innocent employee because his superior was embroiled in a corruption issue. Ji Won Young is so anxious to return to his old work that he sets out to find the chairman's favorite artist. In a distant village, Won Young meets Tae Joon and finally falls in love with him. Unintentional Love Story is available on iQiYi.
#5. Love Tractor
This is arguably one of the prettiest Korean BLs I've ever seen, and I'll never forget the main leads as a result. It has a basic story, yet adopting that path worked well for its plot. Love Tractor tells the story of Seon Yul, a city dweller who relocates to the countryside and meets Ye Chan. Seon Yul arrives in the countryside with no agricultural experience, and Ye Chan assists him in adjusting to his new life. As they embark on their new life path, the two begin to start something for one other. Love Tractor is available on iQiYi.
#4. Our Dating Sim
It's one of those Korean BLs with a simple story that grows in popularity as a result. Lee Wan and Shin Ki Tae's chemistry in this series is no joke, and I would love to see them in a different series if given the chance. Our Dating Sim tells the story of Lee Wan and Shin Ki Tae, who had been friends since high school, but after the former confessed to the latter, Lee Wan mysteriously departed, believing that Shin Ki Tae had rejected him. Years later, the two will reunite as coworkers in a firm and begin developing a dating simulation game. What effect would their reunion have on their feelings? If you're looking for a lighthearted series to watch, this is the one. Our Dating Sim is available on GaGaOOLala and Viki.
#3. The Eighth Sense
Since its premiere, The Eighth Sense has been hailed the finest Korean BL Series of 2023 by its admirers. While it may not be as popular as previous Korean BL dramas, we can declare that this series easily exceeded our expectations. The story of Ji Hyun, who struggles to acclimate to the frenetic city life of Seoul, is told in The Eighth Sense. He meets Jae Won, who becomes his new companion, at his new university. Their shared passion for surfing deepens their bond beyond that of closest friends. I hope that future Korean BL dramas would explore genres other than romance. Viki allows you to view The Eighth Sense.
#2. Sing My Crush
It's just been a week since its debut, yet it's already ranked second. I haven't watched it yet, but the show was well-made and refreshing, according to the fans. The music genre has piqued my interest enough for me to finally binge-watch it in my spare time, so I'm hoping my expectations are realized. Sing My Crush chronicles the story of Ba Ram and Han Tae following an incident at school. Will Ba Ram have the confidence to confess his affections for Han Tae years later? I'm excited to see this series because of the great ratings, and the main characters appear to be charming as well. Sing My Crush is available on iQiYi.
#1. His Man Season 2
Just to clarify, this is not a drama series, but rather a reality dating show. Even though I'm not a fan of dating programs, I'm glad to see such representation in such a conservative nation, and the number of responses I received suggests that it was done really effectively. In essence, His Man Season 2 follows eight handsome men as they cohabitate for eight days, resulting in surprising bonds and chemistry. What are your thoughts on His Man Season 2? His Man Season 2 is available on iQiYi.
Korean BL dramas are becoming increasingly intriguing, and I hope that trend continues with future releases. Which Korean BL will be your fave in 2023? Thank you for taking the time to read this! That's all for now; see you on the next one.
