7 Most Promising New BL Couples for 2024!

    Fans are ecstatic when their favorite ships receive a new BL series for the year. But, as a fan, I'm also interested in some of the newest BL couples this year, either because of their intriguing chemistry or simply because of their new show. If you have any recommendations for BL couples this year, please share them in the comments section below. Without further ado, let us begin.

#1. OhmLeng (Kidnap)

 

    Surprisingly, GMMTV has included a large number of new BL couples in its shows this year, which speaks volumes about the risk they are taking. If the previous few years were successful for their established celebrities, this year is very different. With the split from OhmNanon for unclear reasons, GMMTV provides another pair for Ohm in 2024. Ohm has already proven himself in the BL business as someone who can be partnered with anyone and still deliver great on-screen chemistry, but his most recent pair was the most successful. When I originally watched the initial trailer for Kidnap, I assumed the guy was Billkin because of their resemblance, but it was really Leng. I'm delighted that we could have an action drama like "Not Me," but I have some worries if this series goes awry. When it comes to their connection, some fans first assumed it was more of a bromance than a romance between the two, but I believe it is the contrary. For the time being, Ohm-Leng appear nice together on screen, and I hope this transfers into real-life chemistry when the series premieres later this year.

#2. PoomUp (My Stand In)

 

    Another new BL couple to look forward to in 2024 is PoomUp, and we don't have to wait much longer because My Stand In will premiere on iQiYi on April 26. Poom and Up have prior partners, but I'm rather pleased with their coupling this time around. When it comes to their physical characteristics, no one would argue, but it is their connection that many fans hope to see in the actual show. The official trailer was released last month, and while we can see some of the story, everything else remains unclear, including if this is a fantasy or drama series. However, not everyone agrees with the casting of the main characters, with some claiming that they are miscast. It's definitely a matter of personal choice, but I'll have to see them in action to decide whether they're worth watching.

#3. JossGawin (My Golden Blood) 

 

    Gawin has always been one of my favorite GMMTV artists, because to his exceptional acting abilities. He had wonderful chemistry with his past partners in BL dramas, thus his appearance in My Golden Blood is something I'm looking forward to in 2024. I believe that having no constant partner in the company makes him a more flexible actor since he obtains valuable experience working with a variety of actors. He's pretty versatile when it comes to conveying his emotions with his eyes, and I hope we get to witness that again in this new series. On the other hand, Joss isn't someone I'd anticipate to appear in a BL series after not doing so for so long under GMMTV. I still have worries about his comfort in his role, but I'm hoping for the best from this BL series.

#4. GreatInn (Wandee Goodday)

 

    Wandee Goodday is one of the most anticipated new GMMTV BL series, and this is most likely owing to its story and cast. I remember Inn when he played Tofu in "The Miracle of Teddy Bear" in 2022, and I truly liked his portrayal. His character was so real that I was disappointed when he did not have the joyful ending I had hoped for him. In 2024, I'm looking forward to his part as Wandee since he has a new demeanor and a more open character, which are diametrically opposed to what we've seen of him previously. On the other side, we have Great, who previously portrayed Inspector M in Manner of Death, which is popular among fans. His magnetism on the show piqued the public's interest, therefore I'm delighted he now has his own series. Both of these actors are very competent of portraying their characters. Some reports suggest that Wandee Goodday will be released in May or June of this year.

#5 & #6. ZeeNuNew & JimmyOhm (The Next Prince)

    The official pilot was released a few days ago, and it immediately has me interested to see the full thing. ZeeNuNew are no longer a new on-screen couple, yet their characters in The Next Prince differ greatly from their earlier ones in Cutie Pie. The entire production appears to be of good quality and has a large budget, so this series is already looking promising. The only thing needed for The Next Prince to succeed is a well-executed story and lines. ZeeNuNew has always been a terrific couple, both in terms of looks and chemistry, therefore I'm expecting their acting talents will be even better this time. On the other side, Jimmy and Ohm are the series' surprise couple. It's unusual for Domundi to choose an unfamiliar pairing this time instead of Mii2, but I suppose there's a rationale for this. I'm excited for Jimmy's return because he has a fiercer and spicier character this time around, which is already one reason to look forward to this BL. With Domundi prioritizing the completion of Zomvivors before the end of the year, it would be difficult to expect it to air this year, but let's hope it doesn't get pushed any further.

#7. DavidKin (The Hidden Moon)

 

    I watched the pilot trailer for The Hidden Moon a few months ago, and it featured a different pair other than DavidKin. But even after the actual main cast was released, I was confident that the show would be amazing because the novel was written by the same author who created "I Feel You Linger In The Air" — my favorite BL series from last year. Even the pilot has the same vibe as the entire series, so it would be wonderful to witness another historical drama again. The good news is that The Hidden Moon is already scheduled to premiere on September 7 of this year.

 

    Aside from the aforementioned BL couples, the recently announced "Your Dear Daddy" will have Fluke as one of the main characters, and I'm excited to see him in his own BL.
