So Far, the Top 10 Highest Rated BL Series of 2024

So Far, the Top 10 Highest Rated BL Series of 2024

So far, the BL dramas of 2024 have done their best to bring something unique to the table, as seen by their current ratings. In this blog, we will provide a list of this year's BL Series that have received the highest ratings thus far. Without further ado, let us begin this blog.

#10. Jazz for Two

Korean BL dramas are frequently ranked poorly, most likely due to simple plots and storylines. However, Jazz for Two is a more complicated show since it focuses on the tension caused by their differences rather than the charming little guys displaying their love for each other. If it's only about red flags, certain characters may be at the top of the list, creating an engaging story about how they would redeem their personalities. Jazz for Two tells the story of Tae Yi, who lost his desire to life following the death of his older brother, a renowned jazz pianist. However, a new transfer student reminds him of his elder brother, who also performs jazz, which makes him nervous. When they are matched for a collaborative performance, their emotions start to emerge. Jazz for Two may be viewed on iQiYi and GaGaOOLala.

#09. My Love Mix-Up

This may be an adaptation of a popular Japanese manga, but fans adore it despite its problems. I am an avid fan of Gemini and Fourth, and their chemistry in earlier BL dramas was one of the reasons they became so popular. However, My Love Mix-Up has been critiqued for poor editing and transitions, as well as their chemistry in this series. On the other side, some fans support the show's lighthearted premise and romantic comedy. My Love Mix-Up tells the story of Atom, who secretly develops a love on Matmi, the girl sitting next to him in class. When Atom borrows her eraser, he notices a name scrawled on it — Kongthap. To make things even more complex, Kongthap notices his name on the eraser Atom drops and believes Atom has a crush on him. My Love Mix-Up may be viewed on YouTube and VIU.

#08. 4Minutes

We've only seen three episodes of this drama, but the rating is already high enough to place it on this list. But, ratings aside, 4Minutes is one of the greatest series I've watched this year, despite the fact that it hasn't yet been completed. The story line is engaging and thrilling, the characters are well-written, and the overall quality of the series is exceptional. 4Minutes tells the story of Great, a university student who develops the ability to see four minutes into the future. Then he meets Tyme, a resident surgeon who falls for him when they see each other in the hospital. Because of their feelings, their connection begins to develop. VIU allows viewers to watch 4Minutes.

#07. Only Boo

Most of us are undoubtedly surprised to learn that Only Boo is GMMTV's highest-rated BL released in 2024 thus far. This is one of my favorite shows because of how fluffy it is. Some may argue that school BL dramas have been done before, but Only Boo seemed unique because to the actors who brought the colorful characters to life. Only Boo tells the story of Moo, a grade twelve student with aspirations of becoming an idol. When his mother moves him to another school, he meets Kang, a teenager who sells curry rice at their school. Moo's determination in telling Kang how he feels for him causes the latter to fall in love with him. But in order to realize his ambition of becoming a star, Moo must prioritize his dreams over his feelings for Kang. Only Boo may be viewed on YouTube.

#06. Century of Love

The series only finished last Thursday, but "Century of Love" has already been hailed as one of the classics of 2024. It's obvious that this BL has a fantastic story to begin with, but the main coupling is genuinely excellent in this series. The chemistry is excellent, and everything about them is completely genuine. Century of Love tells the story of San, who has been a loyal lover to Wat. When the latter died, San resolved to spend the rest of his life waiting for her to reincarnate, but to no effect. If San is unable to find Wat within the century's time frame, he will die tragically for eternally. When the last year of the century approaches, San meets Vee, a lovely young guy who appears to be related to his life. Century of Love may be seen on Netflix.

#05. Unknown

When it comes to this year's masterpieces, Unknown stands out because of how fantastic it was. It's a different scenario, yet the atmosphere is quite familiar and natural. Unknown tells the story of Wei Qian, the breadwinner for his family after losing his parents at an early age. Aside from his biological sister, Wei Qian adopted Zhi Yuan as a child. Years later, the three of them are enjoying a wonderful life until Zhi Yuan admits he has feelings for Wei Qian. Will their family be affected by their feelings? You can watch Unknown on Viki and YOUKU.

#04. My Stand In

Another gem that we received this year is My Stand In, and I personally like this series. Of course, it's not a perfect show due to several red flags that we observed at the start of the drama series, but I really appreciated how everything turned out in the end. My Stand In tells the story of Joe, a stuntman for the legendary actor Tong. When he meets Ming, they begin a covert romance. After a while, Joe discovers that Ming simply sees him as a stand-in for Tong, forcing him to work on a foreign set, resulting in a fatal accident. Years later, Joe awakens in a different body but with the same name as before. Will he return to his previous life? My Stand In may be viewed on iQiYi.

#03. I Hear The Sunspot

Japanese BL dramas are frequently ranked far lower than other BL dramas for unclear reasons, however I Hear The Sunspot demonstrates that Japanese BL series are equally worth viewing. To be honest, this BL reminds me of "Last Twilight" which aired last year, most likely because it has a character with a disabilities. This type of drama is an excellent approach to provide them with representation as well as a distinct identity. I Hear The Sunspot tells the story of Sugihara Kohei, a young man who is frequently misunderstood owing to his hearing condition. Because of this, he is compelled to maintain a distance, but everything changes when Sagawa Taichi enters his life. The outgoing and cheery young man assures him that his hearing loss is not his fault. Because of their proximity, they start to develop feelings for each other. I Hear The Sunspot may be seen on iQiYi and GaGaOOLala.

#02. Ossan's Love Returns

The other Japanese BL series in this lineup is Ossan's Love Returns, which fans enjoyed because of the romance-comedy genre and, of course, the three main characters. Ossan's Love Returns tells the story of Haruta Soichi and Maki Ryota, who returned from Singapore and began living together as newlyweds. However, due to their heavy workload and domestic responsibilities, the two decided to try cleaning services to make their lives simpler. However, it turns out that the guy they recruit is the retiring Kurosawa Musashi! Will this lead to another love triangle? Ossan's Love Returns may be seen on Viki, Prime Video, and GaGaOOLala.

#01. Love for Love's Sake

Korea's Love for Love's Sake is currently at number one in terms of ratings, and I have to admit that the series deserves it. The show may not have had a spectacular production, but the basic elements were all handled brilliantly to create a fantastic drama. Love for Love's Sake tells the story of Tae Myung-ha, a 29-year-old man who finds himself transported to a fictional online game as a 19-year-old character. His only objective is to make Cha Yeo Woon happy. But will he be able to complete his purpose now that Cha Yeo Woon has no cause to smile? Love for Love's Sake may be seen on iQiYi, Netflix, and GaGaOOLala.

We are just in August, yet the number of highly rated BL dramas is expanding by the day. Which of these BL dramas are your favorite? Thank you for reading! That's it, and I'll see you on the next one.
