So Far, the 10 highest-rated Korean BL series of 2024!

It's time for Korean BL dramas to bloom and get recognition. In this article, we will rank the top ten best Korean BL series and movies of 2024, as well as my comments on some of them. If you have any recommendations after reading our blog, please share them in the comments area below. Without further ado, let us dive straight into the blog.

#10. BLUE BOYS

Blue Boys ranks tenth on our list, with a rating of 7.2. Compared to our list of Thai BL series, Korean BL dramas have lower ratings for a variety of reasons, one of which being the length and execution of the episodes. Blue Boys is really broken into two sections, but you may watch them all at once because each episode is just 10 minutes long. Based on the sequences, the production appears to be low-budget, yet it was a pleasant series to watch in the past. Blue Boys tells the narrative of Jae Min, who, tired by the constraints of job seeking, unexpectedly reconnects with Nam Yi, an old high school friend, after a one-night encounter. As new sentiments emerge, misunderstandings regarding Nam Yi's work cause tensions to rise, endangering the relationship they've just recently begun to explore.

#09. MY DAMN BUSINESS

My Damn Business is now ranked ninth, with an average rating of 7.4. It is still a continuing series, thus its rating may change depending on how the main tale unfolds. Personally, I think it's an excellent series for anyone searching for a short drama with a straightforward plot. Everything seems fast-paced and uncomplicated, yet the plot and characters are lacking in enthusiasm and complexity. The primary coupling has excellent sights, but there is something missing between them that I can't find out. My Damn Business tells the narrative of Team Leader Han, whose Sales Team is about to dissolve owing to the company's management problem. Yun, an aloof assistant manager from the support team, joins Han, who is tasked with concluding transactions within three months. As the two labor alone in an empty office, a tiny occurrence causes unforeseen changes in their relationship.

#08. HAPPY ENDING

Happy Ending ranks eighth in this list, with an MDL score of 7.5. It's amusing to think that a Korean BL series with only 7 minutes of runtime per episode and a total of 3 episodes was not on my radar when it came out, and thus I have yet to view it. According to the reviews, despite the fact that the series is brief, it is a lovely story that ought to be seen. Happy Ending tells the story of Hyun, a bookstore owner who one day comes upon his high school journal. As he turns through its pages, he finds himself reflecting on the past, particularly his unrequited love on his boyhood buddy, Dongho.

#07. BAD GUY

Bad Guy, with the same 7.5 rating, is one of the top rated Korean BL dramas of 2024 thus far. This series shares the same universe as Blue Boys, but with distinct main characters and stories. I haven't watched this one yet, but the reviews are great, despite the fact that it only has four episodes of 10 minutes each. Bad Guy tells the story of ex-lovers Tae Ha and Ji Un, who meet at a cafe and announce Tae Ha's planned marriage. However, when they spend an evening together at Ji Un's house, it becomes evident that neither of them is quite satisfied with the road Tae Ha is going to pursue.

#06. BOYS BE BRAVE

Boys Be Brave, with a far higher rating of 8.0, has grabbed the sixth slot in this list. Although I thought the main couple had amazing chemistry, the story might have been refined to make the whole storyline smoother than it was. But that wasn't a big deal for me because everything worked out as a story. Boys Be Brave tells the story of Kim Jin Woo, whose carefree companion, Jung Ki Sub, is also his secret crush. When Ki Sub offered to crash at Jin Woo's apartment, Jin Woo's heart raced at the prospect of being near to him every day. However, when the brief visit transforms into a permanent freeloading arrangement, Jin Woo strains to conceal his actual feelings and wonders how long he can postpone confessing.

#05. JAZZ FOR TWO

Jazz for Two, with an average rating of 8.2, is one of the top-rated BL dramas of 2024. Not only does this series stand out among Korean BL dramas, but it also has outstanding ratings. Personally, I wasn't a fan of the overall plot because some of the storylines were pretty heavy, but many other people loved it, which is why it ranked fifth in our list. Jazz for Two follows Han Tae Yi, who has lost his desire to life since his brother's death, and transfer student Yun Se Heon, whose jazz playing reminds Tae Yi of his brother. As they are allocated to work together, complicated feelings arise between them; nevertheless, the return of senior student Song Ju Ha threatens to break their growing relationships.

#04. LET FREE THE CURSE OF TAEKWONDO

With an 8.4 rating, Let Free the Curse of Taekwondo is an early favorite among BL fans who have already seen the first two episodes. Personally, I haven't seen a single episode yet, but I want to catch up later because this one looks good. It is still a continuing series, therefore its ranking may fluctuate as it nears the end. Let Free the Curse of Taekwondo tells the story of Do Hoe, a high school student living in a remote location with his father, who owns a Taekwondo facility. Although he dislikes the aggressive climate, his life improves when joyful peer Ju Yeong arrives from Seoul, bringing joy into his world. However, their relationship is damaged by Do Hoe's father's harsh society. After an unforeseen occurrence separates them, they rejoin ten years later, discovering a profound love that cures their old scars.

#03. THE TIME OF FEVER

The Time of Fever has received a high rating of 8.5, making it one of the finest dramas of 2024. I haven't watched this yet, but the reviews are very great, so it's a must-see for everyone. It's great to have a spin-off series for the supporting characters of Unintentional Love Story, and I'm delighted it was made feasible even if it came out a year after the main plot. The Time of Fever tells the story of Ho Tae and Dong Hee, who grew up like brothers. After Ho Tae comes home from his father's burial, he and Dong Hee, who had been living alone in Ho Tae's house after being forced out, reconnect and begin living together. Dong Hee fights to repress his residual affections for his first love, Ho Tae, while Ho Tae begins to experience surprising emotions. As Ho Tae dates wildly to escape his uncertainties, their relationship begins to change following an unexpected occurrence.

#02. LOVE IN THE BIG CITY

With an MDL premiere score of 8.7, Love In The Big City is a true worldwide success. Despite the difficulties this series has had in the past, I'm relieved that it was released smoothly and shows no indications of ending. Although this is one of my favorite shows this year, I find it difficult to binge watch everything due of the topic. The series covers difficult issues that are not commonly seen in BL shows. This is leagues ahead of the competition in terms of story since it does more than just tell us about the beauty of love. It exposed us to the realities of the community that is not often highlighted in the mainstream media. This is not your typical fairy tale with most of the main characters since the world is full of more than only love, but also anguish and suffering. The series was so honest that I was dumbfounded after viewing it all. I'm delighted the main character had more than one love interest throughout the series. Love In The Big City tells the story of Ko Yeong, a gay guy navigating life with his heterosexual roommate, Mi Ae. Through his eyes, we see Ko Yeong's uncomfortable love life, his battles with a mother who denies his sexuality, and the weight of society censure. After experiencing a profound but brief love with Gyu Ho, Ko Yeong travels to Thailand, where a late monsoon vacation inspires him to reflect on his past and grow personally.

#01. LOVE FOR LOVE'S SAKE

With an 8.8 rating, Love for Love's Sake remains the unbeaten Korean BL series of 2024. If this were a personal ranking, I would rank it second, whereas Love In The Big City would be first. But, because it is dependent on MDL ratings, I suppose it is entirely up to the fans' tastes. Don't get me wrong: Love for Love's Sake isn't horrible at all because it tells an original story with its own spin. It combines light and gloomy themes, which adds flavor to the plot. Love for Love's Sake tells the story of Tae Myung Ha, a twenty-nine-year-old who finds himself in a fictional online game as a nineteen-year-old character. His goal is to provide joy to Cha Yeo Woon, a talented athlete with a stellar reputation. As Tae Myung navigates this new society, he falls connected with the rich Cheon Sang Won and receives assistance from the introverted Ahn Kyung Hoon, which complicates his journey.

And these are the ten highest-rated Korean BL shows thus far! Which of these have you watched before or are now on your watch list? Thank you for reading! That's it, and I'll see you on the next one.
