    The year 2024 is coming to an end, and I suppose it's interesting to observe which BL dramas are most popular among fans and have received the greatest ratings on social media sites. If romance comedy is your thing, this Japanese BL may pique your interest. Ossan's Love Returns tells the story of Haruta Soichi and Maki Ryota, who return from Singapore and begin life together as newlyweds. They were struggling to combine work and home and decided to try cleaning services to help with their daily routine. However, to their amazement, the cleaner who comes is none other than Kurosawa Musashi, now retired! This begs the question: will their previous love triangle reignite?

    With the same average rating of 8.40, Love for Love's Sake ranks 8.50 in this list. It's no wonder that this Korean BL drama received high ratings because the actual series was absolutely excellent. It wasn't great, but it was an improvement over last year's dramas. Another thing, the main cast was all so attractive that they grabbed their viewers' hearts. Love for Love's Sake follows Tae Myung Ha, a twenty-nine-year-old who is unexpectedly transported to a virtual gaming world as a nineteen-year-old character. Cha Yeo Woon, a well-known teenage athlete, has been assigned the task of bringing him happiness. Tae's objective is challenged by Cheon Sang Won, a rich heir attracted to him, and Ahn Kyung Hoon, a quiet, supportive buddy. As Tae navigates these new connections, his journey takes unforeseen turns.

#07. LAST TWILIGHT

 

    Last Twilight, with an average score of 8.45, is considered one of the finest Thai BL series released in 2024. Although this series started to air in the last months of 2023, many fans consider it a 2024 BL because it concluded in 2024. Aside from that, there was a lot of anticipation about this series when it was still showing, and I suppose it was justified. Though the series received mixed reviews owing to its climax, the entire drama was one I'd like to see again in the future. Last Twilight follows Mok, a debt-ridden technical college student who takes on the role of caretaker for Day, a badminton player who is rapidly losing his sight due to infectious keratitis. Unlike others, Mok does not pity Day, and their shared time fosters a deep bond. With only 90 days until Day's vision vanishes entirely, the two must face the emotional challenges ahead.

#05.50. SEE YOUR LOVE

 

    With an average score of 8.50 from both MDL and IMDB, this series definitely surprised. Fans of this new Taiwanese BL drama are eager to learn more about our main characters' stories, which have only recently begun. In terms of graphics, they are undoubtedly appealing, which is a nice bonus given the series' intriguing premise. I'm not sure whether this series will get better ratings, but I hope it doesn't disappoint along the road. See Your Love tells the story of Yang Zi Xiang, who, after a business trip to Taiwan goes wrong, hires Jang Shao Peng as an a caretaker and falls for him. Meanwhile, Feng Jie, Zi Ziang's assistant, takes over as his stand-in, while assassin Xin Jia tries to execute his objective. Despite the tumult, surprising sparks of love begin to blossom.

#05.50. UNKNOWN

 

    Another Taiwanese BL drama has risen to the top of this list, with the same 8.50 average. It's no wonder that since the day this series premiered, fans of this drama have been blown away by how outstanding the story in this BL is. There was also a lot of buzz around it because it was an adaptation of a popular Chinese novel, which piqued fans' attention. Unknown follows Wei Qian, who looks for his younger sister, Wei Li Li, and adoptive brother, Wei Zhi Yuan, after they lose their parents. While working illegally, he seeks guidance from his friend San Pang. When Xiao Yuan admits his affections and kisses Wei Qian, there is disagreement, and Xiao Yuan is transferred abroad. As Wei Qian struggles with thoughts of emptiness, he must decide if their connection is purely brotherly or something more.

#04. THE ON1Y ONE

 

    The On1y One, with an average score of 8.60, is regarded the top rated Taiwanese BL of 2024 thus far. This drama series actually came out strong because it was heavily promoted on social media, and it was also available on so many various streaming platforms that it earned a global following. In terms of the plot, I thoroughly loved it, and I'm hopeful that the second season is just around the horizon. The On1y One focuses on Sheng Wang, who suffers after moving to a new high school and battling with classmate Jiang Tian. Their lives are upended when their parents decide to marry, resulting in their becoming stepbrothers. As they acclimate to their new family dynamics and school routines, surprising love feelings emerge. Does their budding relationship enhance their bond or cause family conflict?

#03. THE TIME OF FEVER

 

    This Korean BL drama ranks third in this rating, with an average score of 8.70. Since it aired, I've seen several edits and comments on how excellent the drama is. That says a lot since so many people loved viewing it that they took the time to share their opinions about it. The Time of Fever follows Ho Tae and Dong Hee, two lifelong friends who reunite when Ho Tae returns to Gangneung for his father's death. Dong Hee, who is living alone after being kicked out after coming out, is grappling with his affections for Ho Tae. Meanwhile, Ho Tae copes with his newfound emotions by dating ladies, which causes a rift in their delicate relationship following an unforeseen occurrence.

#02. LOVE IN THE BIG CITY

 

    With an average rating of 9.00, Love In The Big City is this year's greatest Korean BL series in terms of ratings. It's been a week since I finished viewing the series, and I'm still in amazement at what I saw. Whether it was romance, humor, or drama, it was a slice-of-life story that I never expected to end. The acting performances were excellent, and everyone was effective in their individual roles. My only complaint about this series was the general weight of the plot, which may not be suitable for everyone who isn't a lover of intense drama. Overall, this was an incredible series that deserved far more attention and accolades. Love In The Big City follows Ko Yeong, a gay guy who navigates his love life with his heterosexual roommate, Mi Ae. The plot follows Ke Yeong's battles with a mother who denies his sexuality and society censure. Following a profound affair with Gyu Ho, which he must end, Ko Yeong travels to Thailand with a stranger, meditating on lost memories and attaining personal growth during a late monsoon vacation.

    With a remarkable 9.10, Jack & Joker is now the top rated BL drama of 2024. Because it hasn't concluded yet, we may see a different total score in the finale, but let's see whether the series can keep its strong numbers. It's no surprise that this Thai BL is gaining popularity throughout the world because it features a fresh story and an incredible cast. Jack & Joker follows two men in a love-hate relationship as they team together for a major robbery. Joker, a charming robber, robs affluent oppressors and redistributes their fortunes to benefit impoverished communities. In contrast, Jack, a former taekwondo replacement turned debt collector, is composed yet frightening, believes in nonviolent dispute resolution and utilizing his muscle to defend the vulnerable.
