9 Upcoming BL Series That Are Being Delayed!

    In 2024, there was an abundance of BL series, both in number and variety. However, similar to previous years, some production companies are experiencing delays for various reasons in launching their next significant shows on television. In this blog, we will compile a list of anticipated BL series set to release in 2024 that are being pushed back to next year or possibly to an undetermined future date. #1. THE NEXT PRINCE

 

    Since the moment I watched the official pilot of The Next Prince, I have been unable to contain my excitement for this upcoming series. The chemistry between the main couple is already evident, but I believe this BL will take it to an even greater level. Additionally, there's a new side couple introduced in the show, and I'm eager to see how their characters will contribute to the overall narrative. The concept of a story centered around a royal family within a BL drama is certainly intriguing, especially considering the production costs involved, and it presents a unique storyline. Furthermore, the integration of an action genre adds another layer, so I'm hopeful for a strong execution, especially after the delays. The first official teaser came out back in 2022, so they’ve had ample time to deliver a solid product since its initial announcement. As it stands, production is still underway, and the team is currently filming scenes, so we might expect the series to premiere in the first quarter of the year. I just wish it could be released a bit earlier to avoid being overshadowed by the newly announced BL shows for next year.

#2. LOVE UPON A TIME

 

    I was incredibly thrilled when the official pilot premiered a couple of years back, but the show faced an indefinite delay due to recasting the main lead. Fast forward to now, the production has introduced the new partner of Net for the series, who will portray the love interest of his character. Since we haven't seen them together in another BL series previously, it's quite thrilling to consider how their on-screen chemistry will develop and whether they can exceed their fans’ expectations for the show. Despite all the challenges surrounding this series, I am particularly eager about its storyline due to its nature as a period drama BL. The inclusion of time travel adds another layer of complexity, especially for this type of narrative. Currently, there have been no updates regarding the commencement of filming, which may suggest further delays.

#3. MY GOLDEN BLOOD

 

    Initially unveiled at a GMMTV event last year, many fans are eagerly anticipating the release of this series this year. However, over a year has gone by, and we still have limited information about the show and what to expect. It's been reported that the series is still in the process of filming, which means it may take some time before it becomes available to the audience. In addition to the delay, one of the actors is currently under scrutiny after fans discovered his support for Donald Trump and other figures known for their allegedly homophobic and misogynistic views. At this moment, the actor has not addressed the controversy, which could lead to complications if the situation escalates and becomes a larger concern for the production going forward. Ultimately, the outcome of this series rests with the company, so we can only hope for the best while we wait.

#4. THE EX-MORNING

 

    If there's an upcoming BL series I'm really looking forward to, it's The Ex-Morning because of the return of SingtoKrist in a new drama. The storyline of their latest series is quite different from the first one they did together, and it’s fascinating to see how much they have evolved since 2016. Unfortunately, the filming for this series hasn’t begun yet, and I'm uncertain about the reasons for the delays. It’s possible that the production company is prioritizing other shows to expedite their release, but all we currently know is that the series is set to be produced next year and is expected to air in 2025. The only negative aspect of these delays is that the excitement might diminish due to the fans' ongoing wait. In the meantime, I'm just hoping that this anticipation will prove to be worthwhile with their new BL series.

#5. KHEMJIRA

 

    I was really looking forward to this BL series releasing this year, but it seems we won’t be that fortunate to see it in 2024. Even though it’s a horror BL drama, I’m still intrigued to learn about the storyline and how the curse will impact the relationship between the main characters. Additionally, the character visuals are incredibly appealing, which is certainly a plus for the overall series. Filming has already begun, but I’m uncertain when it will be completed, making it difficult to estimate when the series will actually premiere. I just hope that the excitement surrounding the series will live up to everyone’s expectations when it eventually debuts in 2025.

#6. WUJU BAKERY

 

    This series was initially scheduled for release in March 2024, but it was delayed to a later date, and then it was postponed yet again to an unspecified time. As 2024 nears its end, it seems like this series may be on the brink of cancellation without any formal announcement. For now, we can only hold onto hope that someday this series will finally receive a release date.

    In addition to these titles, several upcoming BL dramas have had their release dates postponed.
