Top 10 BL Series You Shouldn't Miss on Netflix in 2025!

Ten years ago, fans had a tough time finding a good BL series to enjoy. Thankfully, with the emergence of streaming services like Netflix, it's now much simpler to binge-watch our beloved BL shows, especially those offered on the platform. In this blog post, we'll present a selection of must-see BL series and films available on Netflix. Please note that some of these titles may not be accessible in your area due to geo-restrictions. Now, let's dive into the blog!

#10. I TOLD SUNSET ABOUT YOU

This Thai BL series might have been released five years ago, but it remains one of my top choices among the shows I watch. When considering chemistry, performances, and cinematography, I Told Sunset About You continues to be at the forefront of my favorites. As an enthusiast of enemies-to-lovers narratives, this show offered me a fresh viewpoint on love when I first experienced it. Despite having only five episodes, they effectively conveyed a complete narrative while also highlighting significant character growth. The story of I Told Sunset About You centers on Teh and Oh, once best friends turned rivals after a fallout in their childhood. After several years, they find themselves reunited in a Chinese language class while gearing up for university applications, stirring up complex and unresolved feelings between them.

#09. YOUR NAME ENGRAVED HEREIN

Though it may not be a series but rather a film, the depth of emotion I experienced during my first viewing was beyond measure. It tells a love story so genuine that, even as someone who typically doesn't enjoy stories set in the '80s, it made me aware of the various forms love can take, including those that are not destined to last. The characters are intricately crafted and fully developed, which is one aspect of this film I appreciate: its unwavering quality. Your Name Engraved Herein narrates the tale of Jian Han and Birdy, two Christian high school students who connect through their school band shortly after martial law is lifted in Taiwan in 1987. On a day off in Taipei, they wander the city together and start to feel the awakening of love and freedom amid a period of social transformation.

#08. THE ON1Y ONE

I already view this list as my personal collection of favorites, but The On1y One has a unique significance for me that I can't overlook. The announcement of the second season's cancellation still resonates with me even now, but I recall that the first season presented a captivating story I hadn't encountered in a long time. Admittedly, it wasn't flawless, but at least the show provided a solid execution, which is something that many BL series often struggle to achieve. I still hold on to the hope of seeing both actors in another project, as they were remarkable in this one. The On1y One tells the story of Sheng Wang, who transfers to a new high school and immediately finds himself at odds with his classmate Jiang Tian. Their lives take an unexpected turn when their parents marry, compelling them to adjust to their new roles as stepbrothers, only to unearth romantic feelings that might either deepen their bond or disrupt their family.

#07. LIKE IN THE MOVIES

When discussing Filipino BL series that I've seen, my top pick is always Like In The Movies. The reason for this is its authentic love story, which was quite uncommon at the time of its premiere. It goes beyond just being a love tale; it’s also an exploration of self-awareness set during a pandemic. Even after five years since its debut, this series remains a strong recommendation for everyone. Like In The Movies centers around Karl, a 19-year-old architecture student grappling with an identity crisis while attempting to live independently in his uncle's condo. While trying to make ends meet, Karl unexpectedly ends up sharing an apartment with his enigmatic neighbor Vlad, leading to a temporary living arrangement that quickly evolves into something more profound and transformative.

#06. THE RED ENVELOPE

Although it may not fit the traditional BL genre due to its lack of romance, I still strongly suggest giving this film a watch as it is truly enjoyable. It's been quite some time since we witnessed Billkin and PP share the screen, but their chemistry remains palpable—even without a romantic context. If you're on the lookout for a delightful comedy to watch this weekend, this film is the perfect choice. The Red Envelope tells the story of Menn, a straight former mugger turned police undercover agent who inadvertently ties himself to a ghostly husband, TiTi, after encountering a mysterious red envelope. Thrust into a supernatural marriage, Menn must assist TiTi in uncovering the truth surrounding his death, a quest that draws them into a drug-related case and fosters an unexpected connection between the living and the deceased.

#05. LOVE IN THE BIG CITY

Korean BL series are typically celebrated for their adorable and heartwarming tales, a trend we've recognized since 2020. However, Love In The Big City took an unexpected turn by presenting a story that feels much more authentic. While the narrative may appear to focus on the protagonist's romantic life, it delves into far deeper themes. Love In The Big City follows Ko Young, a gay man whose exploration of love, self-discovery, and heartbreak is filtered through the perspective of his straight roommate, Mi Ae. As he confronts his mother's refusal to accept him and the challenges from society, Ko Young embarks on a significant romance with Gyu Ho. After their breakup, he finds healing and personal growth during a reflective journey to Thailand.

#04. LOVE FOR LOVE'S SAKE

This series quickly became one of my top picks from last year and still holds a high rank even by 2025's criteria. From the moment I watched the first episode, I was captivated by the narrative, which beautifully integrates both romance and fantasy. I was genuinely impressed by how effectively the two genres were blended, and this execution deepened my appreciation for the series. Love for Love's Sake tells the story of Tae Myung Ha, a 29-year-old who finds himself transported into a virtual game as a 19-year-old, with the mission of bringing joy to the popular athlete Cha Yeo Woon.

#03. CENTURY OF LOVE

One of the most acclaimed BL series from the previous year is Century of Love, and I must say it truly merits the praise considering how exceptional the series is. When it comes to chemistry, it's hard not to admire the leads, which is one of the primary reasons I enjoyed this show. It's not solely about romance either; this Thai BL also offered a supernatural-action narrative that I never anticipated the main characters would execute so effectively. Century of Love narrates the tale of San, who has spent a century waiting for the reincarnation of his lost love, Wat, before a formidable curse brings an end to his existence. With merely a year left, he encounters Vee, a spirited young man who turns out to be Wat reborn, reigniting a love that transcends time.

#02. THAMEPO

As a new BL pairing from GMMTV, I was surprised to see ThamePo achieve international success. I was truly impressed by the show because the storyline felt reminiscent of real-life experiences, particularly since many of the actors are idols. They seemed destined for this series—this series was certainly crafted for them. Unexpectedly, the chemistry between William and Est was so compelling that it captured my attention right from the start. ThamePo tells the story of Po, who is tasked with documenting the final concert of the boy group Mars and unexpectedly becomes the close confidant of their leader, Thame. As Thame gets ready for a solo debut in South Korea, tensions escalate within the group, leaving Po in the midst of the emotional aftermath of unspoken truths and looming separation.

#01. MEMOIR OF RATI

Upon watching the first episode, I was completely taken aback—history is not my strong suit. Initially, I struggled to keep up with the beginning, but I continued watching because the cinematography in the series was exceptional! The natural chemistry between the characters is evident from the outset, which makes me even more invested in the series. We’ve reached Episode 6, and I hope the upcoming episodes are even more impressive. Memoir of Rati tells the tale of Rati, a typical orphan employed as an interpreter, and Phi Tee, a high-ranking marquis in the Ministry of Education, set in the Thai Buddhist year 2458.

Here are a few of the top BL series you should check out on Netflix! I’m looking forward to more BL shows in the upcoming years, and hopefully an original series as well. Which of these BL series is your favorite? I appreciate you taking the time to read this! That's all for now, and I’ll catch you in the next one.
